Hi Op. I went in for the pessary on a Wednesday morning and had my DS in the early hours of Friday morning by EMCS (due to position and him being a big baby with a large head). All in all I didn't find it too painful but was exhausted and struggled with that aspect as I had spent all day Wednesday walking around the hospital to get things going. If I had to do it again I would definitely have rested more.

hi @Csari, aw congradulations, yeah ive heard walking around is a good way to get things going, just dont wanna be stuck!, they are inducing because she is measuring too small, so i dont know if that makes a difference! will keep that in mind

I've had 3 inductions. After they put the pessary in I had a little rest, then did some walking and gym ball bouncing/rotations. It did take a while, like maybe 5-12 hours and during this time my cervix began to ache a lot. Then boom full on labour, babies 3 hours later.
Dont be scared once little contractions start. Thats when the walking/bouncing/relaxing mix will really help.
When strong contractions start, and especially at pushing time try and stay upright. Squatting or kneeling on the bed is good. Make gravity work for you!
Good luck. You will be great.

Hey @teddybear28, how exciting that you’ll be able to meet your baby soon 😍.
I was induced at 38+1 for a slightly raised BP and a bit of protein in my urine.
I had the pessary put in at about 2pm and she did a bit of a sweep at the same time and then I walked as much as I could (When I was allowed) and drank as much as I could. I felt like I was having contractions but had a lovely warm bath and it all calmed down and I managed to get a bit of sleep and then my waters broke just before 5am the next day. After a slightly difficult (big head/ wonky positioned baby) delivery, my son was born at 3pm that day so from induction to being in my arms was just over 25 hours. I was also given the hormone drip when I was in labour because my contractions started slowing down, it made things uncomfortable but gas and air definitely helped!
You’ll be fine, just walk loads and keep hydrated 🤞🏼💪🏼

Good luck for today.
I had an emergency induction with my 1st due to obstetric cholestasis.
It was actually a 'lovely' experience. I heard lots of horror stories but mine was straight forward.
I had the pessary at 8pm Friday night. Had a sleep. Went for a walk after breakfast. Gentle contractions started around 9:30am. Went for a long walk outside the hospital grounds. Got back to my room - waters broke at 11:30am. Was in active labour ( using a tens machine and paracetamol) by 4pm. Moved to delivery suite. Had sterile water injections for back pain at 7&9pm got in the pool at 9:30 pm with gas and air - baby arrived at 10:30pm.

One midwife was a bit of a pain as she kept telling me as it was my first baby that it would take 5 days!!! She then didn't believe me when I said I was getting regular contractions 🙄 but I'm persistent and finally convinced her that if she checked me then I would stop pushing the call bell ..... She checked me then panicked and moved me straight to delivery suite.

I hope everything is straight forward for you X x
