I was the same, stairs we're a nightmare! In my case it was because my ribs had moved (fun!) and the baby was right up at the top of my bump. It got a little easier after week 30 and now at 34 together dropped and I can breathe again!

@MariaDingbat your soo lucky you have some relief now 😫 can't wait to not be so out of breath

Call triage if you can't catch your breath after sitting down for a couple minutes.

kitty768 · 27/10/2020 16:56

@physicskate I definitely will thank you x

I've had that. Prenatal yoga is good as it expands the ribcage and diaphragm making more room for the baby!

I've also been practicing breathing excercises, in for 4 and out for 8. It can be hard at first but I can feel myself getting better at it.

If its due to the position of the baby I have no advice sorry, but if you are having difficulty breathing or shortness of breath its really important you get checked out ASAP. Pregnant women are a higher risk of a pulmonary embolism which is an emergency.

AnoDeLosMuertos · 27/10/2020 17:13

Be careful, I had this at 33 weeks. I had to stay overnight and have tests for a clot on the lung.

BigusBumus · 27/10/2020 17:20

I couldn't breathe full lungfulls of air until after my babies were born. The only relief i got was going swimming where i could be on my front and let the bump hang down away from me in the water somehow.

I definitely will have a look out I will contact my Gp also to discuss my breathlessness especially with my asthma

Defo get checked out. I found that sitting the wrong way round on a dining chair leaning on the top of it (iyswim) opened my chest up a bit and helped....

Fisher1008 · 27/10/2020 18:41

I felt the same, I had low iron - maybe get your levels checked mine is much better now after I’ve been taking iron supplements.

Annasgirl · 27/10/2020 18:44

I had this and attributed it to my asthma also OP. However, later I met someone who had prenatal anxiety and her symptoms were the same. Can you try a relaxation and breathing techniques - obviously also talk to GP and Midwife. Perhaps do some relaxation with an online app like headspace (I do not work for them and there are millions of apps so choose whichever you like the sound of) and try it morning and evening?

I also took an extra dose of my inhaler (ventolin) when I had this.

WhoUsedMyName · 27/10/2020 18:47

Op I have this! I keep getting told it's anxiety because I am clearly breathing and talking, which yes I am but simple tasks can get me completely breathless also sitting doing nothing and I feel like I can't breath.
I take in and out big breaths but never feels like I am breathing properly. I think I'm going mad!!

WhoUsedMyName · 27/10/2020 18:48

@Annasgirl just read your post! Maybe it is anxiety then god it's awful what ever it is

Onekidnoclue · 27/10/2020 18:56

I’m anaemic. That’s causes breathlessness. Get your iron checked. X
