Night sweats!

Sorry not the nicest topic! I'm currently 5 weeks pregnant and I have been waking up dripping in sweat (lovely!). I'm keeping our bedroom window open, wearing my summer pjs but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Is anyone else suffering with this? I've read it's normal in pregnancy but I'm quite anxious that I'm overheating during the night which could be dangerous? This is my second pregnancy after a MMC last year so think I'm being a little overly cautious and worrying. My temperature is already running slightly on the higher side for me (usually 36.4 pre-pregnancy and now more around 37.2). I know that's nowhere near a dangerous/high temperature but just wondering if this is raising a lot more during the night and causing me to sweat so much? Or maybe not and it's just one of those lovely pregnancy symptoms? 😁

Just me that's a sweaty mess at night? 🤔😂

I have my heating on a couple of hours after work because I’m chilly. After an hour asleep I wake up needing to put my fan on, which stays on until my alarm goes off at 5am

wannabebump · 25/10/2020 17:05

I was always roasting hot in the early weeks - windows open, fans on all night and no covers!

Minkies13 · 25/10/2020 17:12

I had this in my first trimester and now again at 39 weeks. I'm waking up in the night in a sweat. I have all the windows open at night. My husband hates it lol

I also remember that when my milk came in with my last DD on day 4 I had to sleep with a towel under me as I had the night sweats so badly.

It's hormonal, I get it too, definitely won't be overheating, it's not really heat related so much as hormone related.

Fizzl · 25/10/2020 18:35

Ah thanks everyone! Good to know I'm not alone.

That's an interesting point @Garman as I don't think I'm particularly hot or overheating just dripping with sweat which makes me assume I my temp must be high. Hormones would make more sense. They do get up to funny things sometimes don't they?!

Yes, I was going to bed cold and then waking up covered in sweat in the night! So weird, like a fever breaking or something. I’m at 11 weeks now and come to think of it I don’t think it’s happened in the last week or two.

I didn't get night sweats during pregnancy, but OMG the ones I got after birth were legendary.

33goingon64 · 26/10/2020 21:34

Just wait til you start breastfeeding. Night sweats like I've never had before or since. Sorry.

Make sure your taking a decent iron supplement! That really helped me with hormonal night sweats post partum

Fizzl · 27/10/2020 08:31

Oh so this is also one of those lovely hormonal symptoms which can continue to haunt you! Excellent 😂, I'll look forward to it (all being well)

Definitely a hormonal thing and totally normal. Eventually your hormones do peak so it will get easier.

As PP has said the post birth sweats are legendary. For 6 weeks post birth I slept on towels! I was worried I had an infection from c-section but MW said they are just 'mum sweats' 😆

Hazelmazel · 27/10/2020 08:49

I get awful night sweats from perimeno (just another thing to look forward to)
Biggest help was switching to a wool duvet instead of a feather one. It's honestly amazing what a difference it makes. Wool helps you regulate your temperature whereas with feather you just get warmer and warmer.

Niffler2019 · 27/10/2020 09:00

Sounds normal I think it's just hormones as other posters have said. I'm 37 weeks and always hot and sweating, especially during the night. My husband & daughter are constantly complaining its cold & putting the heating on which doesn't help!
