PCOS and breastfeeding

Hi. I am expecting DC4 soon and am hoping that this time I might be able to breastfeed.
My DC 1 I fed for 4 weeks before he lost too much weight and I had to introduce formula.
DC2 6 weeks and DC3 around 3 or 4 weeks.
I have PCOS and so, despite trying all the bf groups, lactation experts, skin to skin time etc, my milk supply was just never sufficient to exclusively feed them.
I did continue to combination feed all three but each time it caused me great sadness and the feeling of failure.

DC3 was born 7 years ago and I'm wondering if any new developments have taken place with regards to this. I know after I had my third I was told that women in the US were given metformin to boost supply but that it wasn't given on the nhs.

Anybody been through the same? I know it will probably be the same again this time but all the feelings of not being good enough are starting to resurface the closer I get to meeting my baby.
Thanks

There are quite a few with PCOS here but guessing they may not have been in your situation?

I have PCOS but I'm currently pregnant with my first, hoping to breastfeed but fully prepared that this may not be possible so have bought bottles etc. I'm not putting too much pressure on myself, if I can't do it then I can't do it. As long my baby is happy and healthy thats all that matters.

I have PCOS and successfully breastfed my first, with an oversupply in fact. But I realise this is pure luck and nothing I did!

I would recommend contacting the infant feeding team at your chosen hospital to discuss with now. I know ours are very receptive to antenatal referrals and will make a plan with you for when baby is born. If that avenue doesn’t work, I’d probably contact an IBCLC like Lucy Ruddle.
