Best bottles for combi feeding?

Sorry if this is the wrong category I wasn't sure which one to select.

Those who has combi fed, which is the best bottles you have used? I just want my husband to be able to feed baby every now and again once I've established good feeding.

I'm swaying towards the Philips Avent Natural bottles as heard they are more similar to breast than tommee tippee.

Has anyone used these bottles? Thanks xx

Breast feed babies can be fussy so you may need to try a few. MAM and NUK are often preferred.

My baby only took NUK ones but with the latex brownish coloured teet as it’s really soft! If you really want to combi feed i would say don’t leave it too long to offer a bottle, I offered around 3 weeks and she already had a very strong preference to the breast and really rejected the bottle for a long time!

Oh wow ok that's good to know! I've read a lot to say make sure you don't do it before 6 weeks so they don't get confused? So that's really interesting to know thank you! X

Yeah I was told 6 weeks to establish supply and avoid nipple confusion but I honestly think the baby is more likely to reject the bottle than to have nipple confusion that late. Establishing supply is really important and you don’t want to interfere with that but I find by 3 weeks she already had a strong preference and so next time I’d offer a bottle a lot earlier. Some breast fed babies are happy to have a bottle, my friend successfully combi fed but some really aren’t and don’t take to the bottle as easy! It’s hard to judge when’s right to offer the bottle and I think it depends how strongly you want to combi feed, I just gave up until she was older as the battle wasn’t worth it for me as she’d literally scream and spit out all the milk!😂x

As long as your baby doesn’t have any major problems with their latch I completely agree with @thetangleteaser. I don’t know any babies who were nipple confused. I know MANY breastfed babies who refused a bottle, both of mine included. In my experience you need to introduce the bottle early and not go more than a few days without giving one.

Thank you both so much that's so helpful!!! X

I introduced the bottle to DS2 around 4 weeks I think, as he was always hungry and I felt stressed having to breastfeed all day (and night!) whilst DS1 needed me too. He took to the Tommee Tippee ones straight away, one bottle in the day and one at night, no issues at all. I think being a greedy baby it wouldn't have mattered what bottle he was given!

But it really, really helped fill him up and didn't affect my overflowing milk supply.

I agree with the other posters, I mix fed from DS being 1 week old. We used MAM bottles and never had any issues. DS would drink either and at any temperature. Milk was always given at room temperature which was much easier.

I expressed one bottle a day for both mine. Started dd1 at 2 weeks, dd2 was younger than that. Both used tommie tipper bottles with absolutely no issues and were fine with swapping to formula instead of expressed milk at 6 months.
