Nausea getting worse at 16 weeks

I had really hoped it might be better by now and be easier to eat a balanced diet. I know sometimes it doesn't go till later in the second trimester so I am still hopeful it might relieve, but has anyone had it getting if anything slightly worse at this point? I'm a bit worried it isn't a good sign. Luckily it is nausea rather than vomiting (so far) but it's pretty bad.

My morning sickness amped up at around 13 weeks from nausea to lots of vomiting. It did completely settle by 20 weeks, though, and I’ve got a lovely 13-month old DS now.

I'm 14 weeks and my nausea and sickness doesn't seem to be getting any better. I had a week or so at 11 weeks where it got worse ( constant vomitting) but it back to all day/all night nausea with the odd sickness.
I just feel so drained 😭 hopefully baby is ok and it will all be worth it.
I hope you feel better soon X x

So glad it all worked out well lineandsinker and really encouraged that you felt better at 20 weeks.

Sorry to hear you are suffering Quail. I am grateful to not be actually being sick (yet!). I hope you feel better too...any day now...

It's very annoying when daily updates say things like 'now you are in the second trimester and your sickness has surely gone'...especially as it's usually followed by some pre covid advice about it being the perfect time to take a holiday or meet friends for lunch!

16 weeks here and still struggling badly!
I’m on cyclazine which takes the edge off but every day is a struggle.
Hearing baby’s heartbeat the other day and the little movements I’m feeling make it worth it though.

MamaToBeOMG · 23/10/2020 09:56

@Inkpaperstars I delivered my baby at 38+3 on Friday night. Had had constant nausea right the way through (sickness until 22 weeks). But Saturday morning....no nausea...so strange. Obs & gyny doctor confirmed that "yes" the only way to be rid of the nausea is to deliver the baby.

Inkpaperstars · 15/11/2020 13:24

Many Congratulations @onlyreadingneverposting8! Hope you are both doing well!

I started taking cyclazine at 14 weeks and it helped a lot. I had a month's worth so came off at around 18 weeks but nausea was still there, although less. I'm now 24 weeks and I still get good days and bad days but it's more manageable, I'm only being sick about once or twice a week. It's different for everyone and every pregnancy even, so you never know when it'll subside! I find being tired makes it worse. We just got to stick it out!!

Inkpaperstars · 15/11/2020 19:57

Yes, it's doable for sure! The midwife did mention cyclazine and I might give a go, bit hesitant to add in more medication as I am already on several for pre existing conditions, but will speak to them again.

Hope you feel better soon @Inkpaperstars it can feel never ending. I felt sick on and off until 20 weeks but it did go and I was ok for the rest of the pregnancy so there is hope. Do definitely try cyclizine as it really helped me. Feel better soon and it is worth it x

Inkpaperstars · 15/11/2020 22:11

Thank you @JKDcot, that is encouraging!

@Inkpaperstars sorry you’re feeling so awful, it’s no fun 😢 My first two, the brutal nausea and exhaustion eased around ten weeks and was gone by 13/14. My 3rd it definitely seemed to ramp up again in the second trimester lasting through til around 22/23 weeks. It was so strange to feel so different. I put it down to my age this time round (closer to 40 than 30!). I would just go straight to bed as soon as I felt it start and sleep it off for an hour. It would help but not always get rid of it. A short ten mins in the fresh air always helped a bit too, if only for a brief bit of respite. However so much better after 22/23 weeks and minimal issues since. I hope it ends soon for you. I’m sure it will 😊

Inkpaperstars · 16/11/2020 21:52

Thank you @Kodiak83, that's kind of you.

I have so far had bad nausea rather than actually been sick but then tonight have actually been sick several times so I hope it isn't a sign that anything is wrong.
