34 weeks - waking 5 times a night - is it normal?

As my title says - I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my second baby - last two nights I've been up 5 times a night for the loo plus my hips ache terribly when I'm lying down. I've got a toddler to look after and I'm so so so tired. Is it normal. No uti as I'm not like that during the day and no pain when weeing. So fed up and tired and uncomfortable!

Sounds very standard, sorry!

Thanks for replying - i don't remember so many wake ups and so much discomfort last time!

I'm similar. Up for multiple wees and swigs of gaviscon!

Pinecone88 · 22/10/2020 18:14

Same here unfortunately 😐

peachypetite · 22/10/2020 18:17

I feel like I wake up every hour needing a wee.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 22/10/2020 18:18

I’m only 17 weeks and I wake up about 4 times a night :(

BG1234 · 22/10/2020 18:22

I’m 36 weeks and it’s been between 2 on a good night and 5 on a bad night. Sorry x

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 22/10/2020 18:24

I do remember last time thinking that even with a newborn waking me up, I could sleep more comfortably once the baby had arrived. Hope this one comes promptly- I can't bear this going on until 41 weeks!!!!

31 weeks here and sleep is a nightmare. I'm starting to dread going to bed 😥😥

SqidgeBum · 22/10/2020 19:00

I am 39 weeks on Monday, DC2. I have been waking 4 times a night since week 25. I have had 2 nights sleep of longer than 7 hours in the past 10 weeks. Normal for me is 4 hours. I am EXHAUSTED beyond belief. I do remember I was like this on DD1. I slept more and better with a newborn.

GlennRheeismyfavourite · 22/10/2020 19:10

I know what you mean about dreading bedtime- it's awful when you're so so tired but also can't can't comfortable in bed and sleep properly. I hate seeing almost every hour of the clock throughout the night!

Solidarity here too. 36 weeks with a 2.5 year old and I feel like I see every hour of the night. Frequent wees, my bad dreams, the toddler’s bad dreams, aching hips so am constantly moving from one side to the other, insomnia so either can’t get to sleep or wake at 4am, just generally feeling so uncomfortable. Also dread going to bed. No point going early as just prolongs the misery!! Sleep can only be better with a newborn!

PolarBearStrength · 22/10/2020 19:19

Same here. I’m 38 weeks now but it’s been going on since the beginning of the third trimester. I’m just uncomfortable, and weeing constantly, and acidic, and vomiting, and can’t switch off. Some nights I only get 3 or 4 hours sleep. Great fun with a toddler!

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 22/10/2020 19:32

Sorry OP but I'm 39 weeks with DC2 and the sane happened to me at about 34 weeks and that was it... haven't had more than a 2 hour stretch since... doesn't help that my DS is also a terrible sleeper...
I've tried limiting my liquid before bed (I know, I know) and removing all timekeeping devices (it's even more demoralising seeing each hour) but nothing nothing nothing makes a difference.

All I can offer is sympathy and solidarity.

My DP just came home with a Pharmedoc full body pillow!! It better bloody work 😂😂

Foreverbaffled · 22/10/2020 21:54

34 weeks here and identical situation! Sending hand hold. I’m exhausted and feel like the worst mum to my toddler at the moment.

HanPanPeg · 22/10/2020 22:00

Same situation here - my toddler was waking up last week for some reason and I thought I was going to lose my mind!

bleachblondemom · 22/10/2020 22:06

I’m 34 weeks and my sleep is suddenly awful :( I lie awake for hours even though I know I’m tired. Then when I do get to sleep, I’m sleeping really lightly and keep waking up.

MadeForThis · 22/10/2020 22:22

Same happened in both my pregnancies. I think it's nature's way of getting us prepared for no sleep with a newborn 😫😫😫

babygroups · 22/10/2020 22:25

Yep. 35 weeks pregnant. Up twice would be a really good night, getting up up to 5 times would be normal. I consider it a bonus if I'm able to fall asleep after each time I get up.
No chance for a lie in with a second either so I feel you there.
I finish work next week - thank god!

sausagedoglove · 22/10/2020 22:33

Oh god yes this is totally a thing. I was up 6-7 times a night in later stages of my pregnancies. I found it easier to sleep once the baby actually arrived (except for the waking to feed every 3hrsGrin I was actually waking up less in the night with babe in arms!)

MichelleOR84 · 23/10/2020 09:46

I’m up every 1-2 hours all night . I’m just so uncomfortable 😣. And then when I try to fall back asleep all I can think about is how much I have to pee. So then I’m up to pee and of course I don’t even pee that much as it’s just baby putting pressure on my bladder 🙄 . I’m 36 weeks now and this started around 32 weeks . I was waking up a lot even before that but by 32 weeks it was constant . I also have a toddler to look after too 😔

KylieKangaroo · 23/10/2020 13:38

I'm the same and only 14 weeks, last night I didn't sleep at all, I'm going insane I think Sad
