Baby stopped moving

I’m only 20 weeks, have felt baby move without fail everyday for the past 3 weeks. I only came back from turkey 5 days ago and I haven’t felt baby move for 2 days. I’m going to ring EPU today but I’m guessing I can’t go in for reassurance anyway due to two weeks isolation.. and i suppose my question is can they do anything anyway as I am still so early? I feel stupid wasting their time.

I don’t know but just wanted to offer a hand hold Flowers

You’re not wasting time. Phone them. Isolation or not, listen to your instinct and get checked.

Seeing as when you’re in labour you get a COVID test and they still attend to you if you are positive, I very much doubt they will deny you care because you are isolating. Phone up.

I went in for reduced movements at 23 weeks so not much more, Id also felt him consistently for a couple of weeks and then it had stopped. As soon as they hooked me up to the machine we could tell he was moving but he’d shifted position so I couldn’t feel it which is really common. You’re not meant to look for a pattern or consistency until 24 weeks + as they’re still really small at that gestation, so please try not to worry its very likely fine. I completely get the worth though.

But absolutely don’t feel like you’re wasting their time, if you need reassurance they’re there to reassure you. They should have a listen to him and see what he’s up to. I don’t know how it works with the isolation but I imagine there’s clauses for medical need

Completely get the worry*

I remember rushing to my midwives offices early one morning hysterical as I hadn’t felt the baby move for about a day.
Convinced something awful was happening.
A lovely lovely receptionist ushered me into a room, stayed with me, phoned a midwife in the same building who then came and listened for a heart beat which was good & strong.
Turns out I had one of those placentas at the front which meant I couldn’t feel movement as much.
Hairy moments!
Ring up first thing, please, you are not wasting anyone’s time at all.
Ring them, take it from there, get your mind put at rest xxxx

In my experience they won't do anything this early - regular movements can't really be established until over 24 weeks

I'm 22 weeks with twins - some days I feel them some days I won't

If you are also isolating ringing them won't make a difference at this point as they probably won't make an appointment until your isolation is over unless you didn't tell them but that would be very unfair to the staff and other patients /against the rules

RayOfSunshine2013 · 20/10/2020 08:32

Gave them a ring and as expected, too early to do anything and he’s probably just moved..

Baby won’t be in a regular pattern until around 28 weeks. Remember some people don’t feel baby move until 24 weeks. At 20 weeks baby is still small enough to be able to get into a different position where you don’t feel. I understand it’s hard but try not to panic too much and absolutely did the right thing by calling them.

I know this can make you really anxious - try not to worry - have you tried calling your actual midwife rather than EPU? I was worried at around your time for a diff reason (no weight gain , wasn’t yet feeling movement full stop) and I called the hub and they saw me next day for reassurance and a listen in with the Doppler so mayb be worth doing? If you are feeling anxious about baby for whatever reason it’s def worth speaking to your midwife and getting an extra appointment xxx
