Hi guys

I'm in shock. I've had real bad cramps and feeling unwell for two weeks. I did a test today but I'm not sure if it's dark enough to be positive. What are your thoughts and what do I do now? I only had one test. Do I buy more?

Please help!

TIA x

Is this a positive test?

Very clear. Congrats x

Sanch1 · 19/10/2020 15:47

That is very positive! It doesnt need to be as dark as the control line, any line is a positive, and that's actually a pretty dark one. Congrats!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 19/10/2020 21:27

Very very clear positive

Kimblebee19 · 19/10/2020 21:51

Congrats :-) And don't worry about the cramps, I had bad period type cramps for quite a while in early pregnancy.

Kimblebee19 · 20/10/2020 07:49

I've realised I have congratulated you and you havent actually said that you are trying to get pregnant. How do you feel about the result? If you were unsure about when you conceived, I would get a clear blue digital weeks indicator to give you some indication on how far along you might be. Depending on your area you'll need to call your Dr. or self-refer to the midwifery unit. In the meantime start taking Folic acid asap and check the guidance for covid shielding in early pregnancy. Happy to help with any questions x

It’s very clearly positive, any line, even a faint one, is positive, doesn’t matter how dark it is. I’d get a few more tests to corroborate though.

MsJaneAusten · 20/10/2020 07:51

Congratulations!!!!!

That’s not even a squinter. It’s a definite positive Flowers

Thank you all for your congratulations and thank you @Kimblebee19!! It is a shock, I hate to say it but we wasn't TTC but everything happens for a reason and we are delighted. I feel nauseous in waves at the moment so I think it might be worth buying a clear blue to establish how far I am along as I read that morning sickness doesn't kick in until 6-9 weeks. Is there anything you would recommend with morning sickness? As to covid yes definitely that's a worry to me now I know the news so will definitely be reading up & buying some folic acid!! 😊xxxx

@America5 Congratulations, that's a strong positive result.
I'm suffering terrible sickness at the moment (have had HG in previous pregnancies) and find part freezing bottles of water and sugar free cordial help. Some days can keep more down than others but eating little but often helps. Crackers, yoghurts etc

Kimblebee19 · 20/10/2020 12:02

Ah glad you're happy, it'll all work out ok :-)
I was feeling nauseous straight away really, do you know when your last period was? You start counting from the date of the first day of your last period, so by the time you are late you are 4 weeks pregnant. Definitely get a clear blue digi if unsure and to confirm, although remember that those track from ovulation date (so add 2 weeks to what it says basically). Let us know how you get on!
For the morning sickness, eat little and often as pp said - empty stomach makes it 10x worse. Ginger beer helped me a lot and mints - used to sit on the tube chain-eating polos!

My last period was 4th September so works out as 7 weeks. Is it calculated from your last period all the way through the pregnancy or will it alter when we have the dating scan? Ah thanks for your recommendations of how to help the morning sickness. It's on and off throughout the day is that normal? I hope you are keeping well Smile xx

Yep its based on this, the dating scan may adjust it slightly depending on how baby is measuring as you may have ovulated/implanted earlier or later. I think i got put ahead 5 days. My morning sickness was on and off all day too, its common, i think a man must have named it that Grin
Did you get another test in the end? And get your Booking appointment sorted?

America5 · 24/10/2020 11:12

Ahh I see that's good, thanks. Yeah I agree with you there Grin I've woken up this morning with no symptoms what so ever again ... let's see how long this lasts. Did you experience days of no symptoms? Yes I did test again I did 6 other strips and a clear blue but the clear blue just said 3+ weeks so I'm still in limbo on that front of where I'm at until the dating scan xx

@Kimblebee19 and yes I did get a booking app with my midwife over the phone. It's on the 2/11 xx

3+ weeks, thats great then that fits with your dates. Yes i had days with no symptoms, get worried and wish them back - then regret wishing it on when they come back. All normal, enjoy the little breaks from feeling ill!

America5 · 25/10/2020 10:35

@Kimblebee19 thank you!! Smile

Just jumping in because my last period was also 4 September! Only found out I’m pregnant on Friday and I feel pretty sick. I’m keeping water and ginger biscuits by the bed and forcing myself to eat one when I wake up. Also loving lucozade sport!

America5 · 25/10/2020 15:49

@Bs93 amazing!! I can't wait for my first scan to find out how far along I actually am!! That's exactly what I've started doing now, I just feel so weak all the time & it's so hard with work. Best of luck for your pregnancy!! Do you have any appointments booked yet?

OP posts:
Bs93 · 25/10/2020 16:47

@America5 I’ve got an early scan booked for Friday, soo nervous as I’m such a worrier! I’m struggling even sitting up, luckily I’d taken a week of holiday next week but I don’t see how I’m going to work when I feel like this. Not yet, have to pick up an information pack from the GP tomorrow and call to get a midwife appointment! Why about you

America5 · 25/10/2020 17:04

@Bs93 ahh that's amazing!! Best of luck for it!! I was thinking of getting an early scan booked privately as I don't know how long I will have to wait for a scan after my midwife appointment. I too am a big worrier, I still can't believe I'm pregnant but the symptoms keep reminding me, especially the nausea 🤢! Ahh I see and yes I do, I have a midwife telephone appointment on 2/11 😊
