So I've noticed on a bad day my baby hiccups 4-5times on a good day maybe 2-3.. now I did a stupid thing and Googled it and Google tells me that you don't normally feel hiccups after 32weeks and if u do then contact ur doctor 😶🙄

Anyone else's baby have hiccups and where they concerned?

Google is absolute nonsense. I’m a midwife and the number of times I have to answer the phone to some poor panicked woman whose baby has (totally normal) hiccups is ridiculous. DS was a frequent hiccup-er all the way through pregnancy. He was a hiccup-y baby too. DD less so but still once per day or so.

The only time you need to worry is if hiccups are the ONLY movements you feel as they are involuntary so don’t count as assurance of well-being.

God no, my baby hiccuped every day until she was born. It got quite difficult to sit through meetings at work when she was head down and I could feel them twitching in my fanny several times a day.
She's now a teenager and still has hiccups pretty much daily but there's nothing wrong with her.

Brand new baby DS hiccupped from 35 weeks onwards. He's a hiccup-y baby. It's nothing to worry about. 😊

My DD hiccuped a lot from about 32 weeks. She got them regularly as a baby too. I also read it can be a predictor of reflux and she did have terrible silent reflux... but otherwise nothing to worry about!

Bringonspring · 18/10/2020 17:57

Yeap my son also hiccuped everyday from 32 weeks, he also did it a lot post being born!!

My DD had hiccups almost every day from about the same no of weeks as you, possibly earlier. She is, and always has been, a paragon of health. Bloody annoying when you're trying to sleep!

I was in hosp being monitored a lot towards the end of my pregnancy. DD had hiccups numerous times whilst on the monitor and no one ever had any concerns about it. What @pinkgreenblue said is interesting though because DD is also very refluxy. She had hiccups at least once a day for the first few months after birth too. Now she gets them a couple of times a week. Theyve never bothered her and sometimes she even fell asleep whilst hiccuping.

Yea I did wonder.. thought if it was something to worry about then would have been told to keep an eye on hiccups which no-one has ever mentioned!
Google should be blocked!!!

I've only started feeling hiccups since this week (33+2 today). Suddenly I notice them every day, often for several minutes at a time. I wonder if it's because baby moved head down when I saw the midwife at 31 weeks and I have a high anterior placenta which might have muffled them when baby was head up? So maybe it's the way baby is positioned now you're further along.

rykar · 18/10/2020 19:41

No idea. I felt them deeper when she was 22weeks and then I had a few weeks where nothing.. but I had a scan last week and she went back into breech and now I can see my tummy move now when she hiccups and can still feel them.deep.. its strange

This is utter rubbish, my first baby would have hiccups well over 5 times a day towards the end and she was fine xx

Bumbers · 18/10/2020 20:16

I'm 34 weeks and she hiccups about 2x a day!

Ginfilledcats · 18/10/2020 20:24

Aw I had hiccough slime that all the way to the end. I asked about 6 midwives about it as I read the same thing on google and terrified myself. It's crap! Ignore and enjoy. Baby will probably hiccough lots when they're out here in the world - mine does!

NatalieH2220 · 18/10/2020 20:39

I'm 34 weeks and he gets hiccups every day. I can definitely still feel them! DS1 also has them, more frequently I'd say and right up until the end. I'm not concerned as it's normal as far as I'm aware. It never hurts to make a call to put your mind at rest if you're worried though.
