Mild diarrhoea 33 weeks - worried I won't carry to term

Hi,

Throughout this pregnancy I've had mild consitpation throughout really, having to drink lots of prune juice etc to keep it at bay which has worked well. The last week roughly I've been having soft/mild diarrhoea. I'm really worried as I know it can signal early labour. I'm only 33 weeks and really hoping this isn't the case - has anyone else had this in late pregnancy and still carried to term?

Thanks

Yes, on and off for the last 5 weeks and I was still pregnant at 40 weeks.

Thank you @namechange202086!!! This is what I needed to hear. I had a scan 5 days ago and cervix was still really thick, and I have no other signs of labour so I am hoping that this isn't a sign of early labour in this case and I could go to full term! xx

Yeah I also lost my mucus plug (well, a big chunk of it and then bits) at about 33 weeks but the midwife said it regenerates which it must have done as I was fine until my ELCS at 39 weeks.

Hi Op, I’ve been having this off and on through my whole pregnancy - due date is today so I’m officially 40 weeks. No current signs of her arrival either. Might just be one of those things, I think pregnancy can upset the digestive tract more than usual as I never really had many problems with constipation or diarrhoea before pregnancy and throughout I’ve had both

Ive been having this regularly in second and third trimester (now 33 weeks). Midwife didn't seem at all worried when I told her.

OP you could be experiencing what is known as Overflow, which occurs when someone has prolonged or chronic constipation. Alternatively, you could have possibly taken too much laxative and are experiencing the effects of this. I never had diarrhoea pre my spontaneous labours but my bowels did empty naturally as the contractions began. These were just normal stools though. Having diarrhoea doesn't necessarily equal imminent labour. Good luck!

OP please don't worry. You're most likely to carry to term, diarrhoea or none.
Have you previously experienced pre-term labour? I'm just wondering why you're worried.

My pregnancy constipation suddenly resolved at around 32 weeks and I’ve had normal to loose bowel motions since then. Every time it’s loose I convince myself that I’m going into labour but I’m 38.5 weeks pregnant so I don’t think it’s anything to worry about!

Thanks everyone - seems like it can happen for a number of reasons! Feeling better now, and actually I should be grateful because its better than the other way - and piles haha!

Thanks :)
