I'm due to have a c-section in a couple of weeks and just wanted to hear about your experience from start to finish. I have no idea what to expect. Not so much recovery but more what happened and when

Mine was an emergency c-section, so it was a bit of a surprise, but the actual experience from arriving in theatre was fine. I ended up in a ward with some selfish and rude people, but my recovery was pretty quick.

I had to stay in for 2 nights (baby was born at 11:55pm, so I didn't go up to the ward until 6am and then stayed that night). I was up and walking as soon as I was allowed to and competed in a 5 mile cross country race 8 or 9 weeks after the op.

I had a minor infection 2 weeks after my c-section, which involved a couple of nights back in hospital, but that was fine.

I was lucky in that I had no problems with breastfeeding at all.

Sorry. Just realised that I completely misread what you asked!

I was introduced to the anaesthetist ahead of going to surgery. I was then introduced to all of the theatre staff - there are a lot of people.

Every part of the procedure was explained.

After DH was given DD to hold, I was stitched up, but I have no recollection of how long that took.

We were then taken back to a recovery room for a few hours, where I fed the baby and was given tea and toast.

I was taken up to the ward 6 hours after giving birth (6am). At 8am the ward started to wake up. I was tired so asked a nurse if they could take my baby to the nursery so I could sleep a bit.

That night my baby was hungry and I didn't realise that I just had to keep feeding her. I thought that somehow I had done enough already - I wish someone had explained that cluster feeding can start that early.
