Consultant confusion?

So a month ago I had my booking appointment with my midwife and I have high bmi. Not a shocker, I'm on the larger side. She mentioned I might be at higher risk of gestational diabetes and I think added more blood tests but to be honest it's all a blur now. I don't recall her mentioning anything about a consultant but again it's all new to me and may have been forgotten in all the other info. I wasn't allowed to take my notes which I thought was strange. She said I could have them after my 12 week scan. I thought it might be covid related and other than being a bit miffed (she'd shown me all the useful numbers - who to call if I had bleeding etc but what use is it if I can't access it if I need it?) I didn't question it.
Anyway! I then had my 12 week scan last Monday. I assume everything was fine. At no point did anyone say it wasn't, but actually I don't remember anyone saying it was and now I'm paranoid. At the blood tests afterwards and looking through my notes the nurses pointed out that my midwife had referred me to a consultant and had I been told. I said no. They said it would be because of my bmi, and then as leaving sent me to make an appointment at the front desk. I also made an appointment for my 20 week scan and some extra growth scans after 32 weeks, that was definitely because of the bmi. I remember them clearly telling me that.
Now skip to now. I got my partner to phone the hospital to query my Monday appointment, just to make sure it would be at the hospital and not anywhere else, as without a letter I don't have clear instructions. They were unable to help unless he could tell them what the appointment was for and they were confused it was so soon after my scan. Sadly I was at work so I couldn't explain I think it's because I'm fat but now it's left me worrying. Is there a chance something was wrong at the scan and they didn't tell me? If there wasn't a consultant available on the day would they send me away? I'm so worried now. At my scan I measured 13 weeks, which was further than I expected. I had a private scan at 7 +3 just for peace of mind and I was measuring exactly as I predicted then but now suddenly its skipped forward 3 days. Should I be alarmed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 😊

It's normal. If it's anything like my hospital the consultant is probably only there once a week/fortnight. It'll be because of your BMI and/or because they need your birth to be consultant led. Go to the appointment and ask all the questions you need. And don't be worried. If there was something wrong with your baby they would have told you

Scans have an error margin of plus or minus 3 days - so could measure up to 3 days over or under your dates.

Oh and in both my pregnancies (currently 16 weeks and the other was pre-covid), I never got the notes until after the first scan. Anything up to 20 weeks, ring gp. After 20 weeks it's triage.

Thanks all
I called the maternity department and they reassured me my scan was absolutely fine and it's likely just routine, probably to prescribe asprin. I will calm down for the rest of the weekend now!

If there was anything from your scan results that may indicate you are high risk, you would receive a phone call, and they say this will be within a week, so if you haven't heard by now, that's very likely to be good news, and you'll just get a letter about the results. The appointment will be routine I should think, if you're pregnancy is to be consultant led. As others have said, they have particular clinic days. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Your, not you're... Auto correct!

I have a high BMI a d sonyes you will be consultant led. But to be honest I haven't really had that many more appointments etc.

I saw the consultant after my 12 week scan and she prescribed aspirin and from 28 weeks clexane (blood thinner) as I tick a few boxes for moderate risk for pre-eclampsia and blood clots (VTE). No extra gestational diabetes test as not dpingbthem with covid, just a blood glucose test everyone gets.

Two additional growth scans at 32 and 36 weeks which are more to do with my age and checking the placenta is ok.

I am 35 weeks now and haven't seen the consultant again.

My BMI is really high and there have been no issues with scans even really early one at 8 weeks. No pregnancy issues or blood pressure etc. No gestational diabetes.

Congrats and relax
