Hey all

I'm about 8 weeks pregnant (haven't had first scan yet but I calculated online so it isn't 100%). I'm 16 and in year 12. There's been a comfirmed case in sixth form so we all have to self isolate for 14days and to make matters worse it's my boyfriend's best friend so they've had close contact obviously.

Should I be worried and if I tested positive would baby be at risk?

I’d really recommend you speak to medical professionals. One thing you need to be wary of throughout pregnancy is a high temperature.
It could be that you test positive and have no symptoms and there is no issue, or you might be negative. So try not to worry. Congratulations on your pregnancy x

My midwife said as yet there’s no evidence Covid affects baby in the womb, but obviously better to discuss any worries with your own midwife to put your mind at ease.

At the moment it's thought the risk of Covid is higher in the third trimester so you should be okay. Just be as safe as you possibly can be.

I would call your GP for advise.

I think the two big risks are you having s temperature and you being positive later in pregnancy and baby getting it.

Have you told anyone else that you're pregnant yet? You'll need to let you midwife know as you can attend any appointments etc obv

Thanks for all your replies

Yes I have told midwife I'm pregnant and I had a scan for a week on Monday but can't have that now. I might call her tomorrow
