So apparently they are only giving flu jabs out to certain classes of people not if your pregnant!

My go didn’t have stock initially - because elderly are priority - but they have more now and I’ve since been seen. My understanding is your risk is only really much higher I’m 3rd trimester (which I’m now in). So if you really can’t find one I’d probably keep following it up, but not panic yet :)

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 15/10/2020 21:47

Our GP is having to prioritise due to stock levels. I got one as I’m late third trimester, and therefore higher risk. You are entitled to one, but you might be put lower priority than 65+ adults because you’re very early stages. You might have to wait a while until your GP has more stock, or hunt around for a private one if you’re worried now. You should be ok though.

NoIdea1234 · 15/10/2020 21:49

I had mine done at Boots, for free as I’m pregnant. My doctor said I wouldn’t be priority yet and advised me to get it done in a pharmacy.

choosername1234 · 15/10/2020 21:52

Local community pharmacy did mine for me, I filled in a form and ticked the maternity / pregnancy box for "reason for NHS vaccination"

PrayingandHoping · 15/10/2020 22:10

65+ won't be being prioritised. They have a diff vaccine to the under 65s. Under 65s with health conditions may be being prioritised....

We've had the flu jab lady in antenatal clinics at the moment grabbing everyone who comes into the waiting room. Even if you don't have an appointment could be worth calling the clinic to see if they are offering them and go in just for that.. hope you manage to get one!

Turtleturtle81 · 15/10/2020 23:05

I managed to get a free one at Tesco’s last week. I just checked the box to say I’m entitled to a free NHS one due to vulnerability. It then asked me to tick which vulnerability.

Turtleturtle81 · 15/10/2020 23:07

Forgot to say, my local trust are doing a drop-in clinic for pregnant women to get the flu jab. Might be worth giving them a call to see if yours is doing similar.

MnM156 · 16/10/2020 00:48

I just had my flu jab today. I had been trying to book it since last three weeks now. They earlier said that their priority was 65+ year olds. Then they were short of the vaccine. Kept asking me to call back again. I finally got mine today as they have enough to offer it to pregnant women.

FudgeFlies · 16/10/2020 04:48

I was also having trouble getting mine through my GP or local pharmacy. Eventually got it in Tesco this week, Booked online. X

bumblebee2233 · 16/10/2020 08:24

That's so strange. You should defiantly get it free with the NHS. At my 12 week scan they were literally giving them out to us at the door upon entering if we hadn't had one!

I do know boots you can just book online for £13 if that helps.

Thegirlhasnoname · 16/10/2020 09:40

I’m apparently having mine at the GPs in the next hour and proper nervous I’ll show up for them to say I can’t have one after all. 😩

on12145 · 16/10/2020 10:00

This post literally just reminded me to book in for mine.
I booked it using Tesco online and had no problems.

One of the questions are 'are you pregnant' and if 'yes' you're automatically taken through to the free NHS booking. It's a little bit of a wait (earliest appointment for my store was November 5th) but it's not a massive deal and its free.

F1rstt1imer · 16/10/2020 12:24

My hospital is doing them (and whooping cough) when you go to your 20 week scan

27andcounting · 16/10/2020 12:38

My midwife booked my flu jab in at my intital booking appointment. Just bring it up when you have the call and she should be able to book it in for you. Other providers would need your exemption form which can be doing any time at the beginning of your pregnancy, my midwife sorted it at my 9 week but I know some who got theirs later. Best of luck x

Hubertthetortoise · 16/10/2020 14:59

At our hospital we give the flu jab at the scan department, so every woman coming for a scan is offered it. Worth checking if it’s the same in your hospital

babygroups · 16/10/2020 23:10

You are definitely entitled to one but your gp practise might not be the place to give you it. It's different in different areas but it could be your midwife or you could be sent to a community centre for it etc.
It doesn't sound like you've had your booking in appointment yet so you probably won't be on the list to receive it yet.

JessicaPeach · 16/10/2020 23:16

I haven't been invited by my GP yet, I guess they are working their way through the vulnerability lists! I paid £12 and had mine done at Superdrug. They had no nhs stock left to give it to me for free and I wanted to get in ASAP this year. It was just a walk in, no appt needed.
