Hi I'm due on the 11th of June but won't be hearing from a midwife until the 1st of December? Even then it will just be a phone call. Is that OK or should I be being seen sooner. This is my first baby.

Should have a midwife booking appt between 8-10 wks, scan at 12wks. If it doesn't work out like that start making phone calls and get ready for reporting. There is no need for pregnancy care to be affected by CV19.

I'm due early May. I've already had my booking in appointment (half over the phone and then half a week later face to face for blood tests etc.) I've got my 12 week scan next week, but won't see a midwife again face to face until 28 weeks. I wasn't told about the face to face part until after my phone call so maybe it's the same for you? 1st December is definitely too late for a booking in appointment though, I'd call someone to check.

Hi, sounds like yours is a bit odd. Did you self refer to the midwives?

Just to give an idea I am due estimated ATM 18th May, I got my letters about 2 weeks after I self referred and I have just had my booking appointment with the midwife Monday and bloods yesterday, scan is 4th November when I am 12+1 and then next appointment isn't until 16-18 weeks with my midwife again face to face.

Who advised you wouldn't hear until the 1st December?

Would that make you 12-13 weeks by 1st December?
If so it is possible that you won't see anyone until then, you will have a booking in appointment before you get to 10 weeks but this could be done over the phone.
I've been pregnant through this pandemic, currently 33 weeks. I had my booking in over the phone at 8 weeks (I think), scan at 12 weeks & then went straight into another room to see a midwife after, next appointment was my 20 week scan, again saw a midwife straight after. I had a phone call around 23 weeks where I was assigned my midwife & I have seen her face to face at 25, 28, 31 & I'm booked in to see her again at 34 weeks. My care from what I can tell has been no different due to covid, other then the initial booking in appointment.

You should have a booking in appointment before 10 weeks but this may be over the phone. Many of my pregnant friends did not see a midwife until 28 weeks this year due to COVID, even high risk friends. I was very lucky as my 12 week scan was just before March lockdown and I saw a midwife at 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36 and 38 weeks.

I'm not sure what I expected prior to pregnancy but midwives are relatively hands off until later in the pregnancy. I was pregnant at the start of the year and even then I saw my midwife twice before the anomaly scan once for the booking and a second appointment at 16 weeks. Both of these appointments could easily have been done over phone which I think most places are doing.
You should have more regular involvement after 25 weeks.

So I phoned the midwives and they said that's completely fine. And my first phone call appointmen will be on the 1st December.

Update:
I tried to phone my GP to get an appointment booked in for flu jab and they turned around asked how far along I was. Said 5 weeks. They asked why I didn't have my 9 week appointment. I said I don't know... I'm now being booked in for 9 weeks appointment!
