Hi OP. I take it your first was an emergency c section? An elective is a very, very different experience....relaxed, pleasant, no stress. You can have such a thing as a 'gentle caesarean' these days, or at least aspects of it. It is often a lovely experience.
That said, is there any reason why you wouldn't be able to have a VBAC?

I had an emcs, I was determined I didnt want to labour again ( I was terrified of the thought) booked a c section. The consultant did try to gently persuade me to try a vac. A week to go, cs booked I had a change of mind, kept texting oh who was at work that I don't want the cs. Labour started two days later I had a vbac (midwives did ask me if I was sure I wanted to try a vbac at hospital), 2 days before the planned cs.
I would just talk to your midwife and consultant when you get pregnant. Most women can try for a vbac. I was on the monitor the whole way through labour but I didnt mind, I didnt want to get off the bed and I liked seeing she was ok on the monitor because ds was getting in distress first time. I did have to have a canula in just incase and take some tablets in labour but could eat and drink.

My first emcs was horrific, they tried everything to get dc1 out vaginally. I ended up passing out on the operating table and couldn't understand why they were trying to give me a doll.

I didn't do a pregnancy test until I was 9 weeks with dc2, too much in denial. The consultant I saw was lovely and said she'd support me either way. After much discussion I opted for an elective because ds had got stuck at full dilation, had a massive head and just couldn't be pushed or pulled out plus physically I bounced back. I was however so scared, I asked for a general anesthetic. I did go into labour ahead of the date, dc2 was equally big headed but her arrival was so much better. The Dr who delivered her convinced me to try a spinal and the 2 sections were worlds apart. I got all the things I hadn't known I needed. I watched her come out, delayed cord clamping, skin to skin in minutes and all measurements etc in recovery hours later.

A first section does mean it has to be a second one though.

Doesn't even.
