How to work storage heaters?

I have storage heaters with 2 controls input and boost control. I put the input up to 3 last night and the boost was on 0 and woke up this morning and it was already warm in the room the heat was already coming out? Is this right? I thought i had to put the other control on during the day to release the heat. Its a dimplex storage heater model xt24 series g. Does anybody know how to work these? Thanks

Do you not have input and output dials? Could you post a picture of the controls

The lower the output the slower the heat is released. Googling suggests heat would still be released even turned down low but at a slower rate than if output is turned up. The higher the Input level the more heat will get stored for use during the day

Ive tried to upload a picture of the controls but i dont think it's working.

You just have 2 dials?

Input stores the heat overnight - the higher that is the more that is stored so if its going to be cold the next day you'd turn it up

Output (or does yours say boost?) - the higher that is the faster the heat is released. Even turned down low some heat is released but slowly.

Yeah i understand that but mine doesnt have a output dial literally just a input and boost control cant find the manual on google for this storage heater.

And if my boost was the output it still wouldn't be right. that was on 0 last night when i put the input on 3 and when i woke up it was already warm so i didnt need to put the boost up it was already releasing heat with only the input dial on 3.

Is the boost control a switch then ?

Storage heaters usually contain blocks which take in the heat overnight and then release it through the vent. Without an output control, seems like the heat was released immediately through the vent.

Try ringing an electrical wholesaler, they may be able to advise you.

Is that definitely the model number on the heater?
I imagine in the absence of an output that it starts giving out heat as soon as the heat has been stored overnight. The Boost switch will be if you want an extra boost of heat during the day/evening

No the boost isnt a switch. They are both dials. Its definitely the right model number and series it has it on the side of the heater.
