D Day - scan or LMP?

Just curious, if you had or have a few days gap between your expected DDay based on LMP and the DDay "adjusted" after a scan, which one do you go by?

This is my second pregnancy and my DDay based on LMP is 18th of Dec, but at the 14 wks scan it's been adjusted to 12th of Dec based on baby size and this is the "official" date on my maternity notes.

With my first the difference was only one day.

Bit worried that they will take into account 12th to say baby is overdue ...

I think that they go off whats on your scan.
WIth ds i was a week out with my date and the scan date, i thought i was due on 9th April they said 15th April.
This time theres only 1 day difference, i thought i was due 17th Dec but my EDD is 18th Dec

fifisworld, now that's coincidence
My DS is 3.5 and was due 9th April, but was borne 10 days early. How old is your DS? And this time we seem to have almost the same EDD again ... Do you know what you are having?
Mine is probably girl, but it wasn't very clear because baby had legs crossed .

I'm quite sure of my dates, as my cycles were always regular.
And surely babies are different sizes, so a bigger baby doesn't mean early birth ...

6 days seems a lot... Dating scans become very inaccurate after 13 weeks; they're best done around 12 weeks, so if you didn't have your scan til 14 weeks then it's not surprising the dates have moved. Do some googling about "dating scan accuracy" and you'll see.

If you're sure and it comes to the "induction talk" then stick to your guns, especially if you have a good idea of conception date.

You can ask for daily monitoring rather than being induced.

Nobody can force you into an induction (and you might be pleasantly surprised at how relaxed the consultants are about it; I was).

They really shouldn't have changed your due date from a 12 week scan IMHO. Scans can be very accurate in the first few weeks, but as your pregnancy progresses they become less accurate. Even at 6 weeks they will say that there can be an error of 5 days each way! Most places won't change your dates unless the scan date is more than a week out. If your periods are normally regular, you're fairly sure that you ovulated at the usual point in your cycle and your cycles are usually 28 days long then your LMP is likely to be more accurate.

Irritatingly midwives and doctors often have more faith in their machines than in women and refuse to change the date back!
