BF when pregnant - I think my milk has gone

I’m still breastfeeding my 2 year old. He only gets a feed at night time and sometimes first thing in morning when he wakes. He stays with his dad at the weekends, I used to hand express as much as I could when he was gone just to relieve myself of the discomfort (I didn’t collect). I haven’t been doing this for the last 3/4 weeks so I know my supply has been dwindling, especially when he’s not here.

Anyway he’s came back this weekend and I honestly feel like there is no milk at all. I tried a quick hand express this weekend and nothing came out at all on Saturday. I tried again quickly yesterday and I can only describe what was thin colostrum that beaded on my nipple (no actual milk flow).

I’m 11 weeks pregnant. If I have no milk left and he still tries to feed, can this be bad for baby? I know that expressing can send you into early labour so I’m wondering if this could cause miscarriage at all?
Such a worrier.

I doubt your milk has dried up so quick . My 14 month old went on a nursing strike when I was 10 weeks pregnant. Prior to this he was nursing 3 times a day , all decent feeds too . I was completely devastated. He never returned to the boob and I’m 35 weeks pregnant now. My milk never dried up and I know because I was constantly checking 😔! I can’t speak for everyone but I think once you’ve been nursing for so long , your milk doesn’t dry up over night . It takes a long time .

My milk dried up when I was 16 weeks last time. I'm 8 weeks now and I can feel it declining but I think I sadly have to wean anyway as my DS keeps really biting me.

I think dry nursing is ok unless you have a high risk pregnancy. Lots of people continue to breastfeed while pregnant and I don't think it's been shown to increase the risk of miscarriage.

I’m still feeding my 3 year old (not through choice) my milk dried up as soon as I got pregnant! I’m now 17 weeks and can hear the odd gulp so it may start coming back soon. He still wanted to feed anyway regardless of there not being any milk - which is bloody annoying Grin
