OMG 4 years of trying and I’m pregnant!

I genuinely can’t believe this. I have endometriosis AND polycystic ovaries. My husband lost his sex drive due to a tragedy. We were having sex minimal at the time of ovulation. I’m also 37. I had an appointment with the IVF clinic next week. Period was late with a little spotting, thought nothing of it - just that I may be under too much stress. Thought popped into my head yesterday. I got a double Clear Blue double pack. First one was invalid. Then second one there the words were ‘pregnant’. I’m in absolute shock!

Thank you all and thanks for the success stories! There’s nothing worse than trying for a baby and seemingly everything around you about pregnancy! My heart sank every month I got my period. It caused a lot of issues in our marriage (because I thought my husband wasn’t having enough sex with me).
I’m worried because I live in America. Everything is different over here. Will my baby need a visa to come to England? So many questions...

Started to bleed yesterday. It’s like a dark brown blood. Had cramps but was constipated too. Luckily, over here you can get an ultrasound any time of the day. The baby is in the right place. There’s no heartbeat yet but they said that could be due to me measuring 5 weeks and 6 days. Here is what has annoyed me: back in June, I was complaining about heavy periods with pain. I asked could there be something wrong with my uterus (because of the not getting pregnant). They refused (gynecologist) to investigate any infertility and gave me a business card for IVF. They did agree to do an ultrasound because of the painful periods (it was obviously connected). I called my GP and she said that everything was ‘fine’ with the scan. Flash forward to now and there just so happens to be two significantly large cysts - one on each ovary. They also said there’s a problem with my cervix Confused. I have a strong suspicion that they were there when I had the first ultrasound back in summer.
Could I just ask for some kind of prayers or something. Thanks all

Good luck op I had bleeding at around the five week mark. The result of that pregnancy had now pulled all of the sofa cushions onto the floor for the third time today and is fashioning them into a den!

Keha · 16/10/2020 17:26

Fingers crossed everything is okay for you OP xx

positivedreams · 16/10/2020 17:55

Praying for you OP ✨

Lots of women have bleeding in early pregnancy and it turns out to be okay, I really hope this will be the case for you! It does sound odd that all of a sudden you have two cysts! I'd be surprised too if they weren't there on the ultrasound you had.

Fingers and toes crossed for you xx

CaraDuneRedux · 16/10/2020 20:18

Flowers OP.
keeping everything I can crossed for you.

Hope you are ok, OP...

So this is my post and I don't know if I will be the OP (because of changes etc and the time). Oh well, where do I start?
My little Abel got sick of my voice I guess and broke his water at 24 weeks. He stayed in for 4 weeks and our little miracle was born on 28/2/2021. He weighted 2.5 lb (which is actually pretty good for his gestation). My placenta was stuck to my uterus so I had to have a hysterectomy. I bled out and almost died. We spent 5 months in the NICU during Covid. Happy to announce that I have a pretty healthy, absolutely bonkers 4 year old.
In terms of me, I got diagnosed with lupus early 2024 then built myself up to go back to work. Abel had been up all night so I got a cab because I was late and then boom, I was hit in it. Left disabled and lost my job.
Would be lovely to hear from some of you.

This is the first time I’ve read the thread but sorry to read you’ve had such a tough journey. Abel sounds a proper fighter though. I hope you’re also getting lots of real life support. Take care Flowers

Hi Curliegirlie,
Love the name, btw. Unfortunately no. After I lost my job things have been very tough. We had to move into social housing because all of our money was swallowed by being in a NiCU in a different state. We had nowhere to store food etc.. Due to being an immigrant, I don't qualify for disability. I also worked in a school and they only recently made it so school workers pay into social security, so a double whammy. The worst thing was losing my insurance. Well, the housing department are supposed to exclude medical expenses for disabled families. My son gets disability but it is nothing like disability over there. I think PIP is paid for the extra expenses. Here it isn't and agencies are supposed to deduct what you pay. Because I lost my job, I lost my insurance. Medical expenses are paid within a claim but it is when the claim settles they rebate the insurance. Well, I get something called Masshealth limited which pays for A&E visits and antibiotics only, meaning I have to pay for everything else. The housing department wrongly classified us because I don't get disability. It is in their policy that they get a medical note from the doctor but the compliance officer didn't understand. They made it so we had to choose between medical expenses and rent. They went ahead and proceeded with an eviction. Crazy because my lawyer and the judge agreed with them, despite me telling them they were wrong. They finally admitted fault after but it is too late.
Thank you for caring to ask and sorry for unloading. I want to come home. America is a great place if you're rich but not so great if you are poor.
