Gluten sensitivity & pregnancy...Help

I've had all the tests and I'm not Coeliac. I was diagnosed in the end with IBS or non ceoliac gluten sensitivity.
I told my midwife and the advice I was given was that if I did eat wheat keep an eye on any cramps becoming uterine cramps as that was a risk.
So I reduced my intake to the almost nothing, then morning sickness hit and dry toast was all in could manage, followed by other wheaty things. I'm slowly improving my diet now I've got the sickness under control, but the sickness has been hellish and I gathered as long as I could keep down what I ate for now thats the main thing.
Anyway... I noticed that I was having no reaction to the wheat, I used to bloat terribly and get very bad cramps but since being pregnant absolutely nothing.
I ate a pizza tonight... Now I'm panicking I shouldn't have.. I can see lots of BMJ articles and other scientific articles online about Coeliac and unfavourable outcomes in pregnacy but nothing about IBS/non coeliac g-sensitivity... Anyone know if it's the same... Am I causing harm if I continue to eat wheat? :(

Hi @WhatNameToChooseNow I very much doubt you will have caused any harm. Coeliac disease is an auto immune condition and can be really serious, if someone with coeliac accidentally eats gluten it can be a medical emergency requiring major surgery. Not to minimise IBS and gluten sensitivity (I have it too) but it's really not the same thing.

I have heard of some lactose intolerant people suddenly being able to eat lactose while pregnant, so possibly it's changed for you as well with gluten. It's up to you whether you want to avoiding gluten the rest of your pregnancy though, I have no advice there!

Congratulations and good luck!

@Sparkly101 thanks, yeah I understand it's different but what concerned me was whether I'm causing some sort of inflammatory response inside the womb or within the baby and it affecting the development. It would be easier for me to continue eating wheat but I wouldn't want to if there as a chance of causing harm. I'm guessing as I'm no longer having IBS cramps there's little chance of uterine ones, but it's more the link to any developmental problems I'm wondering about.

I have gluten intolerance too and have noticed I can eat gluten at the moment with very little effects! I'm 20 weeks and it's definitely made eating easier but I do wonder why it's so different now.
