Endless headaches

I'm 4 months pregnant and I have a constant headache.
Since getting pregnant I haven't had any coffee, and I rarely drink fizzy drinks because they all taste terrible to me now.
I can't figure out these headaches.
Help! I need advise, I feel like I'm going mad

Dehydration? You probably need more fluids as your body is using so much for the baby - try to drink lots of water!

NakedAndAfraid · 10/10/2020 18:59

@AlwaysLatte thanks! I'm drinking loads though (I just have it in my head that enough water can flush out a headache)
I may just be jinxed with this headache

Please contact your GP practice. Headache can be due to high blood pressure and you need checked for pre eclampsia.

Ned2021 · 11/10/2020 10:49

Headaches are really common in pregnancy.. its hormone related.

Babdoc · 11/10/2020 14:15

Ned2021, severe headache is one of the cardinal symptoms of pre eclampsia, which can be fatal if left untreated and progresses to full blown eclampsia or a cerebral haemorrhage.
It is irresponsible to ignore it, and OP needs to be checked out. You cannot blithely assume that intractable headache is “hormonal”.
I am a retired doctor, and remember my own hospital losing a patient to this - she had not sought treatment in time and presented with a lethal cerebral bleed.
OP, have you had any puffiness or swelling of ankles, or rings getting tight on your fingers? Have you been having regular antenatal checks for blood pressure, and protein in your urine? These are also signs of the condition.

NakedAndAfraid · 11/10/2020 15:35

@Babdoc I have not had any swelling or anything. All my checks have been normal. I've actually lost a stone and a half due to hyperemesis, I'm only starting to get back to eating normally tbh.
I have to make an app for flu and whooping cough shots next week so I will speak to doc.

It is very normal. Drink loads, nap when you can and look at getting some 4head and cool strips for head .

Ned2021 · 11/10/2020 21:28

@Babdoc Am i wrong though?
At no point have i given her wrong information.
Id be pretty certain that if she was so concerned about it, she would have spoken to her midwife or had every intention too.

But its ok, you have probably scared the girl half to death with diagnosing her from 1 post... So i will let you crack on...

Good luck OP, i hope it isnt serious and your headaches ease soon.

Xx

I used to get headaches in the night, sister advised me to eat, even though I didn’t feel hungry. So I planned a midnight snack, tried to keep it healthy but some nights it was a couple of shredded wheat with lashings of sugar. That fixed it for me.
