Early scan tomorrow

Hi all

I have an early scan tomorrow when I should be 7+3 trying to put my mind at ease after two miscarriages at 6 weeks already this year

I guess it will be an internal scan but I just wondered what they check?

Do they measure the heartbeat? Or just the size of baby?

Has anyone got any notes they can share

Keeping all my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

I booked a private scan at the time I was 7+5. We could see the heart beat and it was very reassuring to see that the baby was in the right place.

Mine was done abdominally.

It'll be an internal scan and they should check the thickness of the uterus, the shape of the sac (regular or irregular), the presence of a yolk sac and fetal pole, the crown rump length (CRL) of the fetal pole and wether or not there's a heartbeat.

I don't think they tend to measure the heartbeat that early but they might do.

Hope it goes okay xx

Also don't be alarmed if they put your dates back by a week and say you're measuring at 6.5, it'll move forward again.

When I was 6+3, they told me I was measuring 5+3 which really worried me as I was certain on my dates but it's really common and it'll jump forward again. I had another scan 3 weeks later and they put me back at 9 weeks.

Agree with PP about dates changing, one early scan i was 6w two weeks later i was 6+1 then at my 12 weeks scan 4 weeks after that i was 13 weeks! Good luck!

At my 7 week scan, uterus size and shape was measured along with CRL and yolk sac sizes. Heart rate was heard but not measured. I hope it goes well
