When is it too much sickness?

Hiya

I’m 8 weeks pregnant and for 2 weeks now I have had sickness everyday, some days it lasts most off the day and others it will come in and out the day, I have vomited a lot off water today, today is definitely a bad day but my question is, when should I call a doctor to check my hydration? right now I feel ok and I’m going to attempt some soup for Lunch.

My partner will normally just say ack you’ll be fine, don’t worry it’s normal. And I totally understand it’s normal because this is my second pregnancy with sickness but just concerned I don’t know when it’s too much sickness?

Any help would be appreciated xxx

I’d probably say now. Especially if you are vomiting up water.

If you are struggling to keep down fluids, being able to go 8-12 h without peeing (I think that is the time frame), if you are losing a notable amount of weight (3% +). If it is affecting your mental health and wellbeing /your ability to function on a day to day basis are all reasons to speak to your gp.

I had a routine gp appointment where I brought up the pregnancy sickness. She agreed to give me anti nausea meds based on my weight loss and mental health. I said I was nauseous and vomiting most of the day but she didn't ask exactly how many times I was being sick or anything like that.

I would go in earlier than you would think, the worst that can happen is they tell you to come back of xyz symptoms appear.

@Alanares89
You should definitely speak to your gp about a prescription.
I had hyperemesis and I was sick all day and during the night for 11 weeks. But with COVID, I preferred to stay at home rather than go to hospital.
I'd say as long as you're keeping some water down most days... I forced water down after a bout of sickness, knowing I had an hour or two to the next throw.
Good luck - I promise it will get better xx

Thanks for the responses Flowers

Yesterday was a bad day, I did get better towards the end off the day where I could
eat and drink and keep it down.
Today I’ve been fine, just a tad sick but nothing more than a few spits and I’ve even managed to put a washing on (yey). Long may it reign lol

I have my first midwife appointment next week so I’ll be sure to mention to her, although I thought the anti sickness meds were rubbish last pregnancy, I will try anything I can get my hands on! Lol

Thanks again Star

Look up PUQE Scoring that can give you an indication

Definitely speak to you GP before it gets so bad you end up in hospital. I was being sick all day, everyday and as a first pregnancy I was Googling everything and kept reading it was normal for some people to have sickness all day so just thought I was unlucky. At 7 weeks I was sick non stop for a couple of days and couldn’t keep anything down. Ended up in out of hours then into a&e and admitted to maternity for a few days. Diagnosed with HG on several medication and injections and lots of bags of fluids. Get it in control the sooner the better.
