Morning Sickness

Hi.
Currently 10+4 and have had awful morning so less since being around 6 weeks. Its on and off alll day every day so far but much worse during the night which is leaving me exhausted when it’s time to get up and go to work.
I’m usually the sort to just “get on with it” and I’ve never had a sick note from the GP but I’m honestly considering it.

I’m just worried my GP will think I’m just over reacting or being a hypochondriac ☹️

Does anyone have any experience with this?! Are GPS generally sympathetic?

Thanks 🙂

They won't think you're overreacting or a hypochondriac, a lot of women really struggle with sickness in pregnancy. There is medication they can prescribe that can help a lot so definitely worth chatting to a GP.

Hope you begin to feel better soon!

I'm 9+6 and my sickness has completely gone and I'm willing it to come back so I can feel pregnant again haha

Hi OP, I'm only 7 weeks today but had to phone my GP and midwife as I wasnt able to keep anything down and was the same, even up and down during the night with it.
I spoke to my midwife who went through a few things with me and said to get some anti sickness tablets but only if I felt I could keep them down and if they didn't work they would get me in to make sure I was hydrated enough. Got the tablets yesterday on prescription and already feel a lot better xx

I had a sick note from GP. I was really nervous about calling as it's morning sickness people consider you just soldier on. My GP was great and also phoned up to check up on me.

There are so many levels of morning sickness and the norm doesn't impact on your day to day life. Your morning sickness (all day sickness should I say) is impacting on your life, so you should call the GP. So it's likely to be considered moderate to severe which you can't work with.

From experience, I left it too late to call and wish I had called 2 weeks earlier and had a month off as I was feeling so awful. A friend of mine got diagnosed with HG from 3 bouts of sickness. I was having more than that most days so I knew then I wasn't being silly to call.

You should definitely call. Remember, first priority is baby now.

So as I worried, the nurse I had a consultation with was completely unsympathetic. I managed to get some anti sickness tablets but just hoping I can get a sick or for the next couple of days if I call the surgery in the morning. Still feel completely drained! I’m sore the stress of it all is making the sickness worse!

I have only just seen this thread but my GP's have been amazing. Since 6 weeks (I'm 10+3) I have been throwing up once or twice a day and struggling to keep fluids down. I'm currently off sick from work as I struggled to work with feeling so nauseous and sick all day long. I am currently on Buccastem and Cyclizine every day and my GP's are constantly checking how I am particularly because my urine has been so dark. If you are struggling ask for help. Bombard everyone until you get the treatment you need. It's such a miserable time in what should be one of the happiest periods of any woman's life particularly mine having had two miscarriages last year.

Meant to add if you are really struggling to keep anything down call 111 and press going into hospital on a drip. Your body needs nutrients.

I'm now 26 weeks with the third and all my pregnancies have been hell, but I think this is the worst. I've been really ill all the way through (same as my last 2 pregnancies). Lots of lovely people on here told me to go to the gp and push for medication (I was beginning to feel so depressed). I had no idea with my last pregnancies that there was such a thing. Even after telling midwifes how ill I was, I was just dismissed. I didn't have to push the GPS at all, they just prescribed me medication over the phone. I have had 3 different kinds, to find a combination that helped.
It probably won't take it away completely, and does come with some side effects, but don't suffer through the sickness.
