Normal Early Pregnancy Symptoms?

Hi - i'm new to mumsnet and i'm really just after someone to talk me out of the complete panic i'm in.
After 6 and a half years of TTC, a few days ago I got my first ever positive test. According to the NHS due date calculator, i'm 5 weeks pregnant.
This evening, after a trip to the loo, I noticed a small pinky-brown stain when I wiped and after another trip, a small amount of brown discharge.
I've also had lower back and lower abdominal twinges since the day my period was due.
Is this all normal?! Is this something I should be worried about?

Spotting and cramping is totally normal. The cramps are both uterine and bowel/intestinal cause early pregnancy messes with digestion!

If you bleed red blood and clots it is perhaps something to be concerned about but pink/brown is fine and may be implantation

@GemmaNicole congratulations!

I'm 17w and what you have described is that I experienced.

The day before my period was due I had cramps like it was coming and I had some brown discharge which I thought was the beginning of my period.

I read somewhere about the body getting rid of old blood (sorry)

I took the clear blue and then did another one a couple of weeks later and had an early scan. All fine so far :) x

Huge congratulations @GemmaNicole

With my first pregnancy I used to have a pinky light discharge, we had a private scan and she said it was because my uterus was heart shaped so one half hadn't got the message I was pregnant. It went at about 4 months.

I'd highly recommend a private early scan, they are so detailed and explain lots to you.

Oh wow, congratulations! That does all seem normal. Wishing you a happy, healthy pregnancy.
