Hey, has anyone had a Hollywood wax at nearly 37 weeks pregnant? Id like one done but not sure if it's a good idea or not! 🤣🤦‍♀️

Following with interest 😂 trying to time my waxes too. I’m a bit too sensitive for a Hollywood at the minute. But can handle a Brazilian

How many weeks are you @KCN2020? Lockdown has sorta put a stop on my usual wax appointments 🤣

Hey, I've had a wax 38 weeks. It was my preference to have one done as I was having elective section and knew I wouldn't be in a position to have one after. Didn't feel any different, go for it!

Hey, my wax lady told me shes happy to do it up until I give birth. She used to live in New Zealand and said she waxed women right up to week 38/39 even a 40 week lady who was overdue! 😂

welshladywhois40 · 05/10/2020 15:57

With my last baby I had my last one done at 38 weeks as it was fine. I read somewhere not to have it too close to birth incase infection risk

KCN2020 · 05/10/2020 16:16

That’s what made me so sensitive last time, too long a wait between appointments 🙈 I’m 29 weeks. I was planning on scheduling one for 5 weeks time, then 4 weeks after that. Normally I wouldn’t need them for 6-7 weeks but these hormones make everything grow faster 🤣

Is laying on your back an issue at this point? or does that not matter for this short amount of time?

GingerGetThePopcorn · 05/10/2020 17:42

I had a normal bikini wax at 39 weeks. Tbh it probably wasn't worth it - I was so fat and sweaty (August heatwave plus hot wax plus pregnant...) that it was more painful and less effective than usual. Ended up with lots of sticky wax residue and plucked chicken skin. Plus the beautician seemed terrified, although she'd said she was happy to do it.

Be careful about how close to your due date you get it done. It can make you more prone to infection. There is also some research that seems to indicate you are more likely to tear if hair-free.

I had one in my last pregnancy at about 32 weeks. I had quite sensitive skin before and I'm assuming pregnancy made it worse. You could have fried an egg on it for about 4 days after having it done. If I took my knickers off the room would instantly warm with the heat it radiated. I did a half arsed guess at shaving it by feeling it when I went into labour instead.

mobear · 05/10/2020 21:05

Yes, I had one last week at 36/ 37 weeks - all fine.

doadeer · 05/10/2020 21:10

I had one at 39 6 days before my c section. No issues for me. I was happy I had it. The hair grew soft around the scar and no itching as I would have had if they had shaved me.

My salon only do waxing so they are so fast, it only takes 10 mins ish for a Brazilian

Mycrazylife85 · 05/10/2020 23:24

I had my last wax done at 24 weeks. The discomfort from it was unusually unbearable and I felt bad for the baby feeling unnecessary pain for my vanity. I haven't had another but have strategically groomed my bikini line with a trimmer. I also bruised badly last wax. For me it wasn't worth it but I didn't know this until I got it done

Moo678 · 06/10/2020 15:07

I got a normal bikini wax at around 32 wks - I actually had quite a bit of pin prick bleeding - think it was just because of increased bloody supply to the area. The beautician was terrified though.
