Missed miscarriage?!?!

Hi everyone. Over the last few weeks I’ve had blood, bright red, come from my vagina during / after passing stools. I’ve been extremely constipated during this time too. The amount of blood has increased over the last week. On Saturday, I had the same thing happen after having sex with my partner. The blood is much more than spotting but hasn’t been enough for a pad as it has stopped after each event. I have convinced myself that I am having a missed miscarriage and that this is why I am losing blood gradually over time. I am approaching 12 weeks and have had no pregnancy symptoms other than sore boobs the entire time. I currently don’t have much of a bump or anything either but I do look very bloated after eating. Can anyone share their outcome if they’ve experienced the same thing, good or bad? I am awaiting a call to sort an emergency scan after the EPU unit was closed over the weekend. Thanks in advance x

I had exactly the same in my first pregnancy and it turned out to be a cervical ectropion, which is harmless but stressful. It was always triggered after a bowl movement especially if I’d been constipated- I explained this to the midwife during one of my many trips into the EPU then triage and her response was “no that won’t be it as that’s a completely different passage” 🙄. My best friend is an obs/gyn registrar and she still thinks it’s funny to check I have a basic understanding of anatomy after that comment.

Thanks for sharing this zippy1510! It’s really good to know. Yes - I went to A&E Saturday and the doctor said the same - that I must have the passage where the blood was coming from mixed up! Did you get it treated in the end?

So it can’t be treated during pregnancy unfortunately. You can get them cauterised but not whilst pregnant. It did calm down a bit as the pregnancy progressed but mostly it involved many trips into triage to check all was well after each big bleed- I’m also A negative so for a while I required anti-D shots just to be on the safe side. On the plus side I saw the baby frequently on scans and it did become a more or less normal part of the pregnancy.
