What do kicks feel like ?

Currently 21 weeks pregnant with my first child , a boy & so far I've had the flutters & sometimes I think I can feel him moving ever so slightly

I'm eagerly awaiting the kicks , especially when there able to be felt by my partner

As this is my first , I'm obviously not sure what I'm looking out for. Sometimes I'll feel something I assume to be a kick but it may bring some slight pain with it so I'll assume it's round ligament pain
I'm assuming kicks aren't meant to hurt until much further down right ?

Can someone describe them for me ?
My sister said , when it's a kick you'll just know
But I'm almost terrified of missing out on them when they first happen as there a milestone I've been waiting for

Thanks

I'm 20 weeks with twins but both have anterior placentas so feeling movement can be a bit hit and miss.

I'd say sometimes it feels like a "popping" sensation other times like a nudge but not one that someone else can feel.

When you get further along you'll be able to feel him move and roll a bit more which feels like a ripple I guess?

I don't think partners can feel anything until around 30 weeks

I have never had a kick hurt at 20, 21 weeks. It actually feels nice, like a bubble or a feeling that something is moving or shifting. I guess having gas is the closest feeling to kicks, but still not quite the same.
I hope this helps at least a little bit.

Like big bubbles glooping through a water cooler

The first kick I ever felt felt like a bubble rising and popping, it was a lovely feeling, hard to describe. As baby gets bigger you can feel them a lot more and the kicks and jabs can be quite sharp and uncomfortable at times!

For me at first it just felt like a really internal muscle twitch, not very milestone-like!! From what I've heard most aren't sure when they first start to feel movement whether that's actually what it is until it happens a few times. Definitely shouldn't hurt though. My partner could feel slight movement from the outside at 20 weeks but everyone is different and it obviously depends on placenta position etc.

For me it was like a muscle twitch/spasm - was really weird!

But I have an anterior placenta so movement can be cushioned. I'm 26 weeks not and only just starting to feel actual physical kicks. Which just feels like a light tap - not painful.

I never really had the butterfly/flutters

Just started feeling them and for me it’s somewhere between an involuntary muscle twitch and someone flicking me - but from the inside. Feels like a gentle ‘ping’. I have anterior placenta so I haven’t felt any flutters at all so far and the kicks are all that really register. They’re strong enough that my partner can feel them already (22 weeks). It’s been the loveliest part of pregnancy so far, little daily reminders that “hello, I’m here!”

Piccalily19 · 04/10/2020 10:12

Id describe it how a heart beat feels when you put your hand on your own chest, like a strong pulsing. I’m 22 weeks and only started to feel them in the last 1-2 weeks. I seem to feel them best when I’ve got my feet up on the sofa and putting my hands either side of where my uterus is 🙂

I would say the same as pp above. Like bubbles moving through water, beads being passed over your pubic area very lightly and slight popping motions from within. I’m 20 weeks with dc3 and only felt these the past few days.
