Tender area below knee at 30 weeks

I've developed a really sore spot on the outside of my knee over the past week, it's incredibly painful when I accidentally kneel on it. I've had a referral from the physio for numbness in my thigh on the same side but it was only a phone consultation and not very helpful. Any ideas what might be causing knee pain too?

I've had this for a few months now too - I am now 30 weeks.
I haven't thought to mention my knee to anyone but I have also had a slightly numb hand and tingly heel on that side. Midwife said that could be the nerves being compressed so to monitor it as I could have physio if needed. Knee might be related to that I'm now thinking - although numbness in hand and tingly heel are better over last couple of weeks.

Certain hormones released by the body relax smooth muscle, allowing your pelvis to stretch to accommodate the baby. Unfortunately they don’t just target one area so you may find other joints become achey but it’s all very normal and should go back to normal afterwards😌

It’s likely to be a combination of your ligaments being slightly looser and also the additional weight of your body.

I have ankle and Achilles pain that’s come on in the past two weeks, that previously wasn’t there. I’m nearly 30 weeks and my GP said the above.

Sounds like knee bursitis to me. Very common and generally just needs some rest, and potentially a hard massage to the quad muscles above the knee, to resolve.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I reached out to the maternity physio and got a face to face appointment quite quickly. She said she didn't know what was wrong as I had good movement and strength but it didn't seem sinister and she thinks it will resolve after I give birth. If not, they have a maternity post natal physio I can be referred to. She gave me some quad strengthening exercises too.
