Does the pregnancy fatigue ever improve?!

Or just then become exhaustion with a newborn?!

I'm 10 weeks, the nausea is much improved with meds but I could sleep soundly for about 18 hours a day! Work is currently a struggle, does it get easier?

I'm 14 weeks. I was so drained and weary a few weeks ago but feeling better now.

The placenta starts doing it's job around 10-12 weeks (from what I read) so fingers crossed it won't be long and the second semester will treat you as it should.

sarahc336 · 29/09/2020 17:57

It does really get better during the second trimester, hang in there but then around 30 weeks it returns Grin I find the first trimester and third is more tiring than actually having the newborn here ha ha xx

WhatWouldPennyDo · 29/09/2020 18:05

Mine eased up at about 14 weeks then came back with a vengeance at about 32 weeks.

Lantern156 · 29/09/2020 18:09

I found I had so much more energy and pep in my second trimester - hopefully it’s the same for you!

villainousbroodmare · 29/09/2020 18:13

Iron iron iron.
Get it into you!

gretagreengrapes · 29/09/2020 18:17

@villainousbroodmare

Iron iron iron. Get it into you!
I've had an IV iron infusion so that's definitely not a problem (but you're right, I could sleep this much when I had zero iron in my body!)

Thanks everyone, I just wanted some reassurance that there was going to be a break from this and I wasn't going to be this fatigued for the next two years of my life! 🤣

I felt bloody awful up to 14 or so weeks and then suddenly had loads of energy! It does pass x

Gerdticker · 29/09/2020 18:21

I second @villainousbroodmare get the iron in you!

And tons of water too - dehydration is just always half an hour away in pregnancy!

But yeah in my experience it definitely gets better. Second trimester is a huge improvement on the first - or at least for me from 22-28 weeks ish

In the third trimester you get so heavy and wide it’s tough, but I’ve found I still get some great days when I achieve a lot. But plenty of weary exhaustion days too!

So I guess what I’m saying is you never know but things rarely stay the same for very long!

Oneandabean · 29/09/2020 18:22

I’m 23 weeks tomorrow and it’s never passed. 😭

MonkeyPuddle · 29/09/2020 18:25

Deffo got better for me around 12w. I’m now 36w and about to have my 3rd nap of the day. I am utterly fucked.

FlowerPig · 29/09/2020 18:34

2nd trimester was great, I had so much energy and motivation to get things done.
Now 35+3 and exhaustion has definitely kicked back in ... literally spent all day on the couch today wondering if I will I feel this tired when babies here and how I'll get anything done if so.

Heyahun · 29/09/2020 18:37

I only started feeling better around 16 weeks - am 19 weeks now and no longer need a nap in the afternoon!

I did have low iron so needed to get some tablets for that and it’s really helped!

I still have bad days where I just have to give up and go to bed - but a million time’s better than the early days

otterbaby · 29/09/2020 18:39

Second trimester was great. I'm now 39 weeks and I'm knackered. And then you go through an exhausting labour, and then have a newborn. So I'm not expecting to feel refreshed anytime soon 😭

Gerdticker · 29/09/2020 19:19

@Oneandabean I was like you at 22 weeks then managed to get a few weeks of feeling quite reasonable! Hang on in there! X

LovesFood1987 · 29/09/2020 19:31

I would say from my experience that the first trimester of pregnancy is the hardest by a very long way! It definitely gets easier! Hold in there 😊

gretagreengrapes · 29/09/2020 21:06

@otterbaby @MonkeyPuddle and @FlowerPig, sorry to hear it's come back near the end! I think the only thing to do is roll with it and take all the naps you can!
