Hey everyone,

I am struggling. I know I probably haven’t got it as bad as others, but my nausea is getting me down and the last few days I’ve been throwing up too!

Anyone have any tips?

So far this helps

  • ice cold water
  • ice lollies
  • bread

That’s just about all I can stomach!

In one way I’m happy as I had no symptoms in my first pregnancy which ended in miscarriage. But my god I can’t even think how to get through my full time job at the moment!

I had biscuits by the bed which I nibbled on as soon as I woke up, found that if I could keep them down I got on much better in the morning!
I was the same with cold water and lollies! I ate a lot of melon, crackers and plain cheese too. The plainer food the better! And lots of small snacky meals rather than big dinners, couldn’t really stomach hot food for quite a while!

Although I was actually sick I had debilitating nausea in the beginning of my pregnancy. I felt horrific! I’m 13 weeks now and it’s still there but a lot milder.
I spoke to my doctor and was given cyclizine (I can’t remember how it’s spelt, sorry!) which helped. I also, weirdly found being cold helped. I remember although driving made me feel awful, if I drove to somewhere windy, the cold breeze in my face took my mind off the nausea for a few seconds. They were a blissful few seconds at the time.

Unfortunately I’ve not found anything to eat that really helps, I’ve found really hot tea to be quite good as when it’s really hot and milky I can barely taste it and for some reason it goes down better when it’s practically burning my throat.

I’d advise getting loads of rest where possible. My nausea is always worse when I’m tired.

I wore travel sickness wrist bands up til about 11 weeks. I don’t know how much they helped really as I was too scared to take them off. It was only once the sickness started easing off that I threw them away.

I hope you feel better soon!

Only thing I've found that helps is boiled sweets (butter mints and Gin Gins are the best so far). However, they only really ease it while I'm sucking so it's a very short lived fix. Desperately hoping I don't get gestational diabetes!

Fresh lemon, ginger & honey infused in hot water has also helped a little.

Thank you for the tips everyone!

When I speak to my pregnant friends and family, they never really told me the true misery of nausea.

Back to work this week and it’s been a struggle! My manager knows but isn’t very.... understanding. He said he thinks a lot of it is in my head haha!

I will keep on with everyone’s tips and what I can manage to stomach!
