Hi all! I'm 20 weeks tomorrow and apart from a few clothes I haven't bought anything else for him yet.

I was wondering how soon and what week you were in when you started buying most of your baby stuff?

Thank you Smile

We ordered our furniture and travel system after the 20 week scan, these are the main items that you kinda want to look at in the shops before buying so I'd get looking now just in case lockdown starts again (plus delivery times are shocking at the mo)!!! Anything else you can just order off the Internet whenever you want. Smile

I made a list and started buying just before 20 weeks..it was slap bang in he middle of the first wave and I didn't know how difficult it would be to get hold of things/ delivery times. Try to look for clothes a bit sooner as I found I had to keep looking back weekly to see if supermarkets had the newborn sizes in stock x

26 weeks with my first and haven't started shopping yet. Waiting for the 28 week scan.

After 20 week scan, especially because that was late November so we bought travel system and furniture in the January sales (although tbh they seemed to be available at those "reduced" prices year round).

@funnyrubberducky As with others, we were shopping right in the middle of the first lockdown 🙈 we bought our travel system at about 24 weeks and just picked it up at about 32 weeks incase we went into another lockdown or anything! The shop we got ours from commented that they were starting to see order times of 12-16 weeks on some brands 🙈 so I’d definitely at least be researching just now and if you have your heart set on something I’d be trying to get hold of it sooner rather than later just incase!

Clothes - we found M&S and Next to be the easiest to get newborn/1 month/0-3 sizing. Everywhere else I tried seemed to be sold out of anything smaller than 12-18 months in my area 🙈 I think things are quite a bit better now but with the way things are going I’d be wary of shortages happening again!

I am incredibly impatient and a bit over organised so had a spreadsheet I was ticking off after 12 weeks. I will say I don’t recommend being that militant about it as now loads of people have bought gifts and now little man has enough clothes to never wear an outfit twice 🤣 Think I got a bit carried away and by 30 weeks I was completely finished. But hey he’s got some gorgeous outfits and I’m glad I didn’t have to worry about things now when I’m 38 weeks and knackered!!!

I probably won't start shopping at all until 32 weeks or so - I hate shopping! But I won't need to do much, have been very kindly gifted a lot of stuff.

I started buying after the 20 week scan. Pram was first on the list as we were warned that as lockdown was just lifting there could be supply issues. It took us a few weeks to get appointments for various shops and to decide so it was about 26 weeks by the time we ordered and some places were quoting 10 week delivery. Same with the crib we picked for our room, advertised as 10 week delivery/awaiting stock so we ordered that at 28 weeks, albeit slightly more expensive but from a shop that had some stock. Other than that I've just been picking up some bits as I go x
