Carrycot stand suitable for a Quinny Dreami carrycot?

Can anyone sugggest where I can get a suitable stand? I asked in the nursery dept of a local large department store, and the assistant looked at me as if I was barking .
The Dreami carrycot is 30cm wide by 82cm long. I've checked Motherecare but their stands are suitable only for moses baskets / carrycots up to 80cm long.

Had a look on Ebay out of curiosity, and found a similar stand which would be suitable for 19 quid including courier delivery, so I snapped it up. Will buy myself a treat with the 11 quid I saved

Just a quick something, i was told when i brought my Dreami carry cot that they arent suitable for use as a moses basket/travel cot as they are unsafe due to no air vents for circulation purpurses to reduce the risk of cot death. Because i was planning on using mine as a travel cot when visiting home in the early months!!!!

Damn, really? I was hoping I'd be able to use mine as a travel cot over Christmas for a few days.

Our bedroom isn't big enough to fit a normal cot in, so I was going to use the carrycot on a stand in our room for the 1st few months, then move babs into his/her cot in his/her room at a later date.
Not sure what to do now. Get a moses basket?
Is the carrycot really not suitable for a newborn to sleep in? Just wondering, as they don't sleep for long stretches, do they? And what differnce is there between a 2 hour snooze in the carrycot when out & about,or when dozing in the front room, and a 2 hours snooze at night in the carrycot while in our bedroom? (not getting at you Didsnbump, just wondering out loud )

I have been told that the issue is with the mattress not the carrycot itself so if you get a proper ventilated mattress off kiddicare or similar rather than use the quinny mattress then you can use as a carrycot

I completely agree with u on that eaglebird, but im one of those people that would rather be safe then sorry!
I looked at getting one of the other pushchairs that came with a carrycot that actually has the vents in the side (cant remember the make off the top of my head) but didnt like it so much, so i am going to take my moses basket with me when we visit our familys for the early months!!!!!

I think I will buy a decent ventilated matress for the carrycot. Then if I decide not to use the carrycot for sleeping in, at least babs will have a nice decent matress to lie on when he/she goes out in the pram for outings.

It's all such a worry, isn't it? I just assumed that a carrycot was suitable for using as a cot for sleeping in. The carrycot's currently as DP's parents' house, so I don't have the owners manual to hand. Will see if I can find any more info on the Quinny website.

fwiw, my not-cheap JL moses basket that dd (8wks) sleeps in every night has a pretty crappy solid plastic-covered mattress.

the carrycot (from a Maclaren MX3) has a much better all-singing all-dancing ventilated mattress with a zip-off airflow top layer etc... but still isn't officially recommended for regular overnight use.

she's just spent a week in it while we were away, absolutely fine.

I checked with mothercare tonight and the Carrycot IS safe for baby to sleep in - in fact in the instructions it advises you on the feet-to-foot position when puttin gbaby to sleep inthe carry cot!
