Week 26 - No movement

Exactly what I said in the topic. The baby was moving a lot the day before yesterday but now nothing. I know you all would ask me to call the triage and go for a monitoring. The issue is that I have already called and they are not inviting me in as I am not yet 28 weeks. They said it is not possible for babies to have a pattern at week 26 and the baby might be hiding.

But I am still very very worried. What else can I do? I feel like crying.

My son has bilateral talipes, picked up at his 20 week scan. He's now almost 6 (and I'm 31 weeks pregnant with our second, also anterior placenta although he wasn't). If you have any questions please ask, it can be a very scary time. Hope you're feeling better.

I felt some movements finally. They are not as strong as before and neither are they down below. They were not a lot as well. Were kind of in the middle of the tummy; very sporadic and subtle but definite movements. I guess that is a good thing, right?

Should I still go to hear the heartbeat? Just because the movements are not strong and are reduced?

I would go to be honest.

It's likely that baby has moved up and is tucked behind your placenta now. I had an anterior placenta with lots of early movements from 17 wks but quieter times from 25 weeks to 28 as DD was up behind my belly button, right where the placenta had formed. Once she was bigger, I had movement all over.

@Alwaystired99 and @GunsAndShips

Thanks a lot for your support and messages. We are still in a limbo regarding Talipse. All the initial scans came back low risk and in the 20 week scan we were told about the one-foot Talipse. Since then we have had a meeting and a scan with a Fetal Medicine Doctor and a telephonic talk with a Paediatric Physiotherapist. The doctor told us that even though all initial scans were low risk, the reason for the clubfoot could be the Neural Tube or Chromosomal defect. They offered me Amniocentesis which I refused as it had a 1% chance of terminating the pregnancy. There are 80% chances that the reason is an isolated issue unrelated to neural tube or any other defect so I took that chance and am hoping that it is an isolated case. We will find out on the 28th week scan which is just 10 days away. The doctor really scared us initially saying things like 'baby might stop growing'... 'if it is a neural tube defect then the prognosis is terrible'. So obviously I am scared and all I think about is baby's wellbeing.

I have no clue what the journey is ahead but I believe and trust that God will give us strength to go through it. I might have more questions when I have more knowledge of the subject. Right now that's all I know.

I am going now to hear the heartbeat. I just cannot take this suspense 🙈

Still go... seems like he's moved position xx

ArianaVenti · 26/09/2020 21:55

How did it go OP? Hope everything's ok.

MnM156 · 26/09/2020 22:33

Thanks so much for asking. I did go for the monitoring and they were very thorough. They did a CTG scan of the baby's heartbeat for 20 mins. They said they don't do it at 26 weeks but were willing to do it for me as it was unusual to not have movements at 26 weeks. That went well and I just sat there and heard the baby's heartbeat for 20 mins. It was reassuring. I felt some subtle movements as well. Not as strong as before and not as frequent either but there were a couple of movements so they said maybe he has changed the position.

Thanks a lot for asking and I am so glad to have a supportive family here at Mumsnet. My 28 week scan is on the 6th Oct. Fingers tightly crossed for it. I hope there is no underlying neural tube or any other defect and the growth is as it should be.

Bless you OP, I'm so happy for you that you were able to get reassurance today. Fingers crossed all is well with you and the wee fella at your next scan x
