Hi all!

I'm currently 19+4 weeks pregnant with o negative blood type.

I was wearing quite tight linen elasticated trouser pants earlier and upon taking them off, they squeezed where baby is and it hurt - a lot considering.

Will this be something to worry about? Should I go to the hospital for an antiD?

Thanks in advance Smile

No I don't think you need anti d. That's more for hard knocks to the bump or if you fell over etc

Give them a ring.

I had a fall at home at around 10 weeks - I landed on my knees and was fine, no pain etc. They weren't sure whether to give me the injection or not (apparently the guidelines for early pregnancy aren't clear) so they did it just in case. I had been having unexplained bleeding as well, perhaps that was a factor in their decision.

If you’re in any doubt, ring your midwife and check it out with them. Don’t sit at home wondering and worrying.

Normally it is for knocks and falls or if you have any bleeding, but no one here can advise you. The only way to know for sure if anti d is required is to go to hospital and have a blood test performed (it has a specific name but I can’t remember!) the results of this will tell you whether your blood and baby’s blood have come into contact.

I had a really light knock to my bump at 16 weeks, thought nothing of it but decided to go to hospital just to be safe. Had the blood test and it turned out I needed anti d, so really glad I went!

@TaVeryMuchLove I phoned the midwives at the hospital today and they told me only to go in if I've had a significant fall or knock and that otherwise I should be fine.

Hoping all is well! This is my first baby so I'm not sure, I know the midwife told me that this pregnancy won't be affected by having o negative blood and that it would be any following pregnancies.

She's just booked me in for a usual routine 28 week AntiD Smile

Hope all is well though and it hasn't gone unnoticed Sad

That’s great that you got it checked out anyway. I had to be particularly careful as this was my third pregnancy and my baby has A positive blood. I had an additional blood test to determine his blood type before he was born to find out if I’d need anti d. Clever stuff! As it is he was born 6 weeks ago and is absolutely perfect. I didn’t have any more dramas after that one at 16 weeks, just the routine anti d later on and after his birth.

All the best for the rest of your pregnancy. It’s a worrying enough time without having to factor in blood type issues too! 😊

I fell down a kerb at 30 weeks. Had to stay in overnight as there was no one around to deal with me.

@TaVeryMuchLove it is definitely a worrying time! I really am so thankful that Mumsnet is a thing haha!

Really helps hearing people's different experiences! I found out today that my baby is A+ too like his dad so they said I have to have antiD and a blood test at birth.

I'm so glad your pregnancy went well and baby is happy and healthy! Flowers

Thank you for wishing me luck Daffodil
