Hello,

I'm finding the car seat and pram choice very overwhelming and struggling to make any decisions about anything.

Car seat I have decided to go with a fixed one rather than a travel one for the pram. I want to use it from newborn

It's between;

Cybex Sirona - although read some reviews that it doesn't have great support for newborns and the view is restricted

Joie Ispin 360

Maxi Cosi Mica

Any help will be much appreciated if you have used or purchased any of the above

Hi

May not be a helpful reply, but we looked at some of the ones you listed and went for the Silver Cross Motion, its fixed and spins 360 degrees as well for ease. Not used yet but demonstration in the shop seemed sturdy and has fantastic reviews.

We have the iSpin 360 for toddler DD and will be buying one for baby due in February. Definitely recommend (though we haven’t used any of the others to compare!)

Axkid definitely if your going for not one for a travel system, safest out there due to the Swedish test

Some info on the Swedish test for anyone else as well. Rear facing is also essential for as long as possible

Both times I’ve had one you can lift out. It wasn’t really necessary with ds as. I could lift him out of the seat. I’ve got a very highly rated silver cross one that clips on my pushchair chassis for DD as I need to be able to lift her and the seat out quickly and sometimes put her down on the pavement (very quiet village) whilst getting ds in or out of the car for nursery. Basically if you’re going to have another child a fixed seat will be hard when you’ve got two.

If you are looking to rear face for as long as possible you might find it more cost effective to buy an infant carrier and then look at a 25kg rear facing seat (britax max way, axkid move or minikid).

Some children outgrow the 18kg seats earlier than 4 and then you either have to turn them forward facing earlier than you might like or buy a 25kg rf seat at that point.

If I was doing it again that's what I'd do!

What Sunshinegirl said. I would get an infant seat for now (one that has decent growing room and is reasonably lightweight). Even if you don't plan to put it on travel system wheels, an infant seat is easy to move between cars, and to package up and take with you if you are travelling abroad and hiring a car. Then when it's outgrown you can get a 25kg seat like a Britax Max Way Plus or an Axkid Minikid. That's just 2 car seats that will do you from birth to age 6 approx.

Alternatively you could go mad and buy the amazing new Axkid One which is ridiculously expensive but will last years and years!
