Vitamins that aren’t pregnacare

Has anyone got any recommendations for vitamins that aren’t pregnacare? I’ve had infection on top of infection so I think I need to take something to build myself up a bit.

If you can stretch to it, look at Wild Nutrition pregnancy vitamins.

I couldn't take pregnacare due to allergies so did some research. Wild Nutrition are impressive. All good ingredients and developed to be as effective as possible. No side effects at all from taking these.

I just use tesco own brand pregnancy vitamins. If you look they have near enough the same stuff in as the expensive brands.

I second the Tesco ones, I took them to my midwife appointment and they said they were fine. They have all the right ingredients in and are way cheaper! Sometimes on 3 for 2 aswell.

Seven Seas pregnancy vitamins worked well for me. Had a midwife check them and they said it was everything and more that was needed 😊 pregnacare made me quite sick but no issue with Seven Seas 😊

I will look into those, thanks. I really don’t want to spend money on pregnacare and for them to make me sick or nauseous, I’ve had enough of that!

No multivits agreed with me and Seven Seas were by far the worst! I stopped completely and took separate Folic Acid and Vit D after that. Made such a world of difference and was way cheaper than any multivits. Supermarket own brand, also often on 3 for 2 deal. I got 1 bottle FA and 2 VD.

Have you spoken to your GP if you're getting infection after infection? What's your diet like?

I was advised that I didn't need the pregnancy multis, as long as I was getting the most important elements individually. So I've been taking folate, vit d and a "gentle iron" from solgate (which together don't make me constipated like the pregnacare did), as well as my pre-pregnancy probiotic. I still can get the odd bit of nausea if I take them all together on an empty stomach, but that was the case before pregnancy as well.

Personally I just had a berocca every day plus a folic acid and a vitamin D from Holland and Barratt. I hate taking tablets but these were contraceptive pill sized so easy for me.

Definitely supermarket own brands 😊

( a bit late to the thread!)

I tried pregnacare in the 1st trimester and found it made my nausea worse. They also use bulking agents/fillers.

Tried also Inessa and that made me gag from the smell.

In the end for my multi, I took Wild Nutrition (3 x capsules). I also took British supplements - Clean Genuine Omega 3 Algae + Clean Probiotics 133 Billion.
My female Dr recommended taking algae omega instead of fish as it's less likely to have mercury. The above combo is pricey but IMO worth it and increased my energy levels and didn't cause any nausea.

Even though the multi had magnesium in it, I'd also often take a magnesium gummy after I took my other stuff as a "treat" which also helped with leg cramps and sleep.

Hope that helps! :)
