Insomnia - suggestions/advice! Help!

So I’m 34 nearly 35 weeks pregnant and for the last 4 weeks or so I’ve suffered badly with insomnia.

Waking every hour or so and not really able to get back to sleep for any substantial amount of time...

I know it’s good practice for when baby is here but I would love to get at least a few nights of decent sleep before he arrives - I’m also still working so really need to find a solution.

What worked for everyone else? I’ve tried hot baths, I wear ear plugs..

Is there anything over the counter that we are able to use or is that a no no!!

Any advice/hints/tips massively appreciated Flowers

I feel you! I’m 35w and experiencing the same.
I pop some meditation playlists on my phone and then set a timer to automatically turn it off after 30 mins or so, it gets me to sleep and I sleep for longer periods.

@MonkeyPuddle ooh that sounds like it could be an option!

Technical question - how do you automatically set it to go off after 30 mins - i would love to know! Grin

I’ve got an iPhone and when you set the timer going you can change the noise the phone makes when the timer ends. But if you scroll the wheely thing to choose between the various alarm sounds right at the bottom there is one called ‘stop playing’ and it turns off the thing you’ve been listening to!

Here are some screen shots.
I still wake up, but I get back to sleep much quicker and get deeper sleep, I’ve even slept through my need to wee a few nights!

Giving birth fixed it for me. I ended up finishing work early because I was so exhausted. A snack in the night (toast or cereal) helped a bit as did having a nap in the day but it was just horrendous.

I found that it was easier with a newborn as I went straight back to sleep as soon as I got back into bed.

@MonkeyPuddle thank you so much for the screen shots going to give this a go :)

@Disappointedkoala it’s just driving me crazy, I just can not nap in the day either :( night try the snack suggestion though...

I’m hoping that when baby is here and I’m rid of the hormones I might feel a bit better at night!

Any improvements at all @Luckyme30

I use Harry Potter audiobooks (know the stories and Stephen fry is a treat!) with a 45 min timer and I never hear the end. Bought some super comfy in ear Bluetooth headphones. I still wake again but I do go back to sleep. A couple of times I’ve only woken once!

Luckyme30 · 25/09/2020 06:28

@MonkeyPuddle I’m so happy to say I’ve slept through most of the night since my post - meaning I’ve not had to try your suggestions BUT I’m sure there’s still time! How are you coping?

@Excitablemuch where are the Bluetooth headphones from at all? Sounds like it could be a winner for me
