I'm 21+2 and suffering with poor sleep at the moment, don't think that our mattress is helping and I am thinking of changing it.

I'm up and down through the night and then waking up in the morning aching all over

I had a look at weekend and saw the Memory Foam mattresses which look v comfy but cost £500 (or £100 for a Memory foam topper)

Has anyone else got one of these? would you recommend one or will I sink into it never to be seen again as I get bigger

a friend who tried one said she didn't get on with it (a % of people don't apparently, according to warren evans, who she bought her bed from) but some swear by them

Our mattress is part memory foam and part sprung so not quite a soft as the ones which are just memory foam. When we tried them out in the shop I thought the ones which were just memory foam seemed too soft for me.

I love ours, although it did take me a couple of days to get used to as it felt really different to my old spring mattresses. They're really good for your back too, my OH used to suffer with bad back pain and he hasn't had it once since we got the new mattress.

Ive been wondering whether to get one myself too. Me and hubby have always suffered with our hard matteress, so now im 26 wks pg and suffering with lack of sleep, i am seriouslys considering one!

I have found a topper which i might go for which is in argos for around £60 for the kingsize. I dont think its that badly priced and worth ago as i cant get anymore uncomfy then i am at the momment!!!!!!!!!!

Poor you, I'm sick of not sleeping too (28 weeks) and have just invested in a new mattress. To be honest I think there is only one way to know, and that's to go to a shop with a Memory Foam mattress and lie on it for as long as you can get away with! Everyone is different and will have different preferences, and you'll need to try it with any sleeping partner because that makes a difference too. I did just that at the weekend, spent about an hour lying on various beds in Warren Evans and eventually forked out a rather scary amount for a brand new superhard mattress- I found the Memory Foam one too squidgy! But that's just personal preference. So try them out first if you possibly can.

My mattress is also part memory foam/part sprung and i LOVE it.

The first one i got was by Silent Night, and now i have one by Seally. The Silent Night one was cheaper, but all i could afford at the time.

I agree with jellyjam that it takes a few nights to get used to it, but TBH i am a convert now.

Try www.mattressman.co.uk or could be .com

They are very reasonable and provide good service.

I got a Tempur one recently and have found it excellent, back ache has gone and my posture is much better, not getting on too well with the pillows though, am preservering at present as they were bloody expensive!

I have one of these. I think it cost me about £200 just over a year ago. I love it but dp hates it and says it gives him backache. I will try to find the name of the company I got the matress from.

chocolatemummy · 09/10/2007 14:35

We bought one a couple of months ago and it is great, we are sleeping so much better
it only cost £129 for kingsize.from ebay, from a company Worcestershire they are still on there I just checked one 3 or forth page
I fully recommend them, you dont have to pay a fortune

If you haven't already bought one, this company is cheap and always offers discounts. I bought a matress from them about 18 months ago and it is really good.

MF matresses are the dogs bollocks!

We got one a while ago. Once the shop staff had revived me and i had picked myself off the floor after seeing the price, and the wife had threatened to withdraw the sexual element to our relationship - i finally got the bank card out.

It turns out to be the best purchase we have made. It is SO comfy that she whips off her work clothes and is prostrate in bed naked in about 20 seconds from being through the front door.

Blackcatswizzskas · 29/10/2007 11:25

I got a memory foam topper from ebay for £39. I put it on our bed on Friday and 'slept' on it for 2 nights before ditching it because its too hard and I ache all over. Am 35 weeks today and find it hard to sleep but the foam topper made it worse. I love memory foam mattresses usually so am hoping that it will work out after the baby comes.

Bessie123 · 29/10/2007 11:57

heh @EricL

Jbck · 29/10/2007 15:05

Eric bet she's sleeping in 30 seconds tho'.
We've got a foam one but it's a very firm one & I love it, much comfier this pg than last altho' I'm still not sleeping, I'm not uncomfortable during the insomnia.
