when I put him down to sleep! He does this for all naps now and at night too. Then obviously we end up up missing the nap window, take him away then back up and it gets worse. He can be so tired he's rubbing eyes and gets to the point to where he's really upset, but he just won't stop!

Had three awful days of overtired screaming baby. Help!

I think they all go through this when they learn new skills, but I would let him work it out himself.
Maybe go in to resettle him if he gets upset but don’t get him up.

When mine started doing this I laid down with her. It is not ideal, but better than the tired baby all day (for me). It also meant I had to park my other two in front of tv for an hour, but partner wfh so was around if any issues. However, now I have just created a different issue!

I was never able to put DD down for naps at that age (still don’t all the time aged 2.) I breastfed her to sleep, cuddled, rocked her, or took her out in the pram.

Then when she was in a deeper sleep I’d transfer her to the cot (or sometimes just cuddle her on the sofa instead) Smile)

It’s something most of them do wen they learn that they can. It will pass, I used to lay them back down and gently tell them shh, it’s sleepy time now.

I already lie down with him and cosleep 😳

So that is not enough! Did you keep repeatedly putting them down until.. what?

Until they give in!

Takes forever the first time but they do learn.

I would do the usual nap routine, lay in the cot and leave - baby would get up and faff around a bit, I’d leave them to work it out for themselves (lying down and going to sleep!) but if they got upset I’d go back in to replace dummy/blanket, tuck then back in etc.

This has always been normal with mine. As long as mine don’t cry, I’ve never gone back in to resettle just because they are awake.
