This may sound dim but I just got my BFP this morning at 13dpo. When did everyone make their booking appointments? Did you continue to test to make sure lines weren't getting fainter?

I desperately want to tell my mum and sister as my sister has a wee boy, but I'm also aware that I want to make sure this wee one sticks before I tell anyone.

First baby, first month trying so still quite shocked and wondering what to do now 💞

I’m my area of you call the gp surgery they will give you a website link to make your booking appointment, so you don’t actually need to see a doctor at this stage.

I think most booking appointments are currently over the phone x

Congratulations! Those first few days after a BFP, especially with your first, are so exciting - carrying round a little secret. I wouldn't keep testing, you can drive yourself mad. I did two tests (second one just to make sure first one was accurate) and then called my doctor to be referred to midwife for first appointment. I told close family at around 8 weeks and then everyone else after 12 week scan. I found the waiting game to that first scan the hardest part!

Congratulations! I waited a until 6 weeks and then called GP. In my area it isn't self referral yet so they have to action. I'm over 10 weeks now and still haven't heard news on scan or booking in appt. the next 8 weeks goes slower than anything! But enjoy and try not to worry! Easier said than done though I was the same.

I'll phone in the next two weeks I think!

I phoned GP right away and they booked a midwife appointment for me at 8w. Told my family right away too as I would tell them if it didn't work out as well.

Hey @HeyDW96 funnily enough we have met on 2 other threads and I was having the EXACT same as. In NHS scotland some health boards just ask you to call the midwife line directly and book in that way. Maybe google your healthboard and registering a pregnancy?

HeyDW96 · 21/09/2020 13:25

I'm nhs Grampian so had a look at their web page and it does say to call Gp centre and leave details, midwife will be in touch. This is my first and I don't want to get ahead of myself as it's very early days so might leave it a week or two then call, want to make sure bub is going to stay well 🤞🏼

I called my GP as soon as I got a positive test. They then gave me the number for the midwife referral service and they are seeing me at 9 weeks for a phone consultation and I have to pop into the surgery for bloods. We are not telling anyone (including family) until at least 12 weeks..... I want to wait longer but my husband cant keep a secret to save his life so we will be luck if we get to 12 weeks.

Superscientist · 21/09/2020 14:30

I only did the one test. It turned positive fairly quickly and I was 5 days late by this point. I am normally a check twice person but in this case I had this sense it was right. My pregnancy sickness started a few days later, I probably would have taken a second test had I not had symptoms.

I booked my midwife told appt through my gp surgery. I got my positive result just before Christmas, I waited until the new year to call just for convenience.

HeyDW96 · 21/09/2020 14:46

We've agreed to tell both our parents at 8 weeks, my mum hasn't been a grandma for 10 years (no other babies in the family) and my OH's parents have no grandchildren so I can't wait to tell them!

Another problem I have is my work, there are 5 other people in my department currently off on maternity leave and they won't be back by the time I go off, I can just imagine the reception I'm going to get.
