Toddler will be just 2 when baby born.

A: Transition to a 'big bed' now (with 3 months to go)

B: When baby arrives (I think this is a bad idea)

C: when baby in the shared room (he'll be 2 1/2)

D: once all settle in the room and he'll be 3+

My toddler will be 22 months when baby arrives. Everything I read said to keep him in a cot bed for as long as possible so I did intend to buy another cotbed. That was taken out of my hands though as when I was about 15 weeks pregnant and he was about 15 months he started scaling the sides and climbing out 😂 we changed the cot bed to a bed and he stood up in it one night and took a running jump out of it face planting the floor so we bought him a toddler bed with small sides (racing car) so he doesn't roll out but he can climb out himself in the morning. We had a smooth transition and no change in his sleep, in face he has woke up fifteen minutes ago and is currently still laying in his bed singing us a song 😂

@mumsofboys big bed. Six months later (or how ever long you’ll wait) you’ll be buying a big boy bed anyway. The translation really isn’t that bad. You can always take the sides of the cot off and then see how he gets on.

DS turned 2 a week before dd was born and was very excited about moving into his big boy room. Dd was in with us for 6 months so he didn't feel pushed out of the nursery, we still also got him changed on the changing mat in the baby room too.

He loved his big boy bed. We bought the ikea kura and left the slats out so the mattress was on the floor and the bed walls kept him from rolling out. Now he's 3 we've turned it into a mid sleeper and read bedtime stories in the den underneath.
