Hi all

Im 18 weeks today, I felt a little movement last week but nothing for a couple of days, 20 wk scan isnt for a couple of wks, until movement is felt properly how do you stay positive and stuff that all is ok, had no pain or bleeding I dont have a huge bump either just look bloated, I am a worrier anyway after a MC, i am sure I will feel ok when I feel movement but i also have anterior placenta so might be more delayed

My friend talked me out of getting a doppler she said it might make anxiety worse!
Any advice would be great this is all new to me

X

Please do not get a Doppler. Any change in movements needs to be checked. Have a read of the links below.

At 18 weeks a hospital won't see you as they'll just say a pattern can't be established until 24 weeks. 18 weeks is still pretty early - I'm nearly 18 weeks with twins and I don't really feel them move that much

I know it’s easier said then done, but try and stay calm unless you have a reason not to be (e.g. bleeding occurs). It can take up to 24 weeks to feel movements at all, (and that’s without having an anterior placenta) and my trust at least don’t expect there to be a pattern to movements until around 28 weeks.

I am with pp, do not get a Doppler. It takes midwifes years of training to know what they are listening out for. Not only can it make your anxiety worse if you can’t find what you think you need to look for, but also works the other way around, it can also reassure you when actually there may be something wrong. My trust are really against home Dopplers for this very reason.

I didn't feel any movement until after my 20 week scan, I think it was almost 21 weeks. I think it is very normal as I've seen lots of posts about it on here. I remember the wait for the 20 week scan was excruciating! I also had and still do have a small bump so people are shocked when I tell them I'm now 34 + 6. I had a scan on Monday to check my placenta had moved because it was low lying, which it had, and my baby girl is measuring just above average. I still countdown the days to every appointment and worry there might be bad news, I think it's natural. Good luck, I hope the time passes quickly for you!
