hi, so i had my 32 week appointment this week, ive been told that baby is measuring small, not too small... think they like you to be between 30-34 and shes measuring at 30cm, they thought about sending me for a growth scan then but then they decided to wait until my 36 week appointment, and if shes still measuring small then ill have to go for a scan, they didnt really give my information on why or what it could be or anything, so does anyone have any advice or give or if youve been for a growth scan yourself and what happenes? thanks

Baby may not be measuring small at all, it just may be your bump that measures small but this can actually be down to lots of things, one being babys position can change size of bump, time of day as your bump doesn't stay the same throughout day 🤷‍♀️

My bump measured on the 10th percentile all the way through my pregnancy (on the cut off for growth scans so I only have fundal measurements). Baby was born on the 60th percentile! Fundal measurements are an rough measurement used as a screening tool for a growth scans. Try not to worry too much between now and your next appointment.

My bump measurement was always on the big side, but my baby was lying transverse so that affected it. I had a small baby!! X

The tape measurements always seem to be a bit hit and miss I think, the only true way to find out is with a scan x

I'm not too sure about the scan, but my midwife measured me as very small at 32 weeks (well under the 10th percentile line on my chart) I was a little alarmed as I'd always been told he was on the bigger side at previous appointments. Then, at my next appointment at 35 weeks, he was measuring on the 90th percentile. Maybe he'd had a huge growth spurt. But it's equally likely he'd changed positions or the measurements were a bit off! So I wouldn't worry too much.

The tape measure seems a pretty crude measurement. I think the growth scan is just so they can be a bit more exact about things and see if baby is actually small for their gestational stage.
