Possibly so they've got a recent weight for crash GA if you need a crash section? Or just routine. I got weighed when I went to see the consultant to agree to induction, but not at any routine MW or scan appointments.

What is crash ga

@xxHappymama2020xx she probably means C section but autocorrect took over.

Itllbeaninterestingchristmas · 17/09/2020 12:48

I was weighed at booking in then when I went to hospital during labour. I presume so they could get the correct dose of drugs

randomsabreuse · 17/09/2020 12:49

Quick general anesthetic in an emergency for a quick c section if labour is going really wrong.

Most c sections are under spinal anaesthetic but a GA is much quicker in an emergency. They can improvise but it's much easier to get doses right with an exact weight.

randomsabreuse · 17/09/2020 12:50

An 'emergency' c section is any that isn't planned, crash might well be 5 minutes from decision to baby out!

I'm also in Scotland and the two times I've been weighed were at my booking in appointment and 36 week growth scan, so you're not alone. I am however consultant led for high BMI

parmahampam · 17/09/2020 12:52

I whacked on 4 stone with each of mine and wasn’t weighed once - I was really surprised as I really did balloon, and was certain they’d say something

Mummyinlove09 · 17/09/2020 13:54

I’m in Scotland and hadn’t been weighed from my booking appt until 36 weeks too so I think it’s just part of their standard checks. As long as they haven’t said anything about weight gain then I’m sure everything is fine. Hope this helps!

AnimalCrossingHere · 17/09/2020 14:22

I'm in Glasgow, weighed at 36 weeks.

Pretty angry about it tbh, because they supplied none of the information the NHS website says I should have had, just turn up and get on the scales, go home.

Apparently we'll talk about what to do if I go into labour at my 38week appointment. Which will be held at 38+6wks.

Worrier85 · 17/09/2020 15:29

I'm in Scotland and have been weighed at all of my face to face apts. It just seems to be one of the routine checks my midwife does along with BP and urine

Oreoreo · 17/09/2020 17:16

I’m in Scotland and just had my 36 week appointment (although was only just 35 weeks at the time). They never weighed me, and haven’t weighed me since booking in. Next app is on 2nd Oct so I guess they might do it then?

FreyaFirstTimeMum · 17/09/2020 23:25

Also Scotland, currently 38+4 and never been weighed (except for booking appointment)

KickAssAngel · 17/09/2020 23:27

It's in case you need anesthetic. Even spinal needs your weight. Can you imagine standing still on scales during a contraction?

CBhope · 18/09/2020 20:18

I was weighed at initial appointment and midwife has always told me they only weigh again at 36 weeks. Not sure why but the medication side of things would make sense.

RoseGoldEagle · 19/09/2020 06:04

I’ve been weighed at every appointment (other than 16 weeks which was over the phone). They plot it in my notes, there’s guidelines on how much you should be putting on based on your BMI. I guess if you were putting a lot on, or not really gaining much, they’d advise on that since it can impact the health of the baby either way. But agree there’s no much point doing it at 8 weeks and then 36 in that case!

Kodiak83 · 19/09/2020 12:08

I asked to be weighed at 28 wk appt but that was my choice. Other than that and booking I’ve not been otherwise weighed. Not was I weighed other than at booking in my two previous pregnancies. Scotland too.

I was weighed at every appointment with both my dc. I assumed it was for basic on going health monitoring and seemed a totally normal thing to do. Agree though at this stage knowing your weight is useful incase if an emergency c section
