How did you feel 24/48 hours before going into labour?

Did you have any signs labour was coming?

Last night I had terrible pains, lots of braxton hicks, diarrhoea (Sorry tmi) and vomiting. Today I’ve had period type cramps all day today, feel sick, no appetite, really tired and restless. I’m 35 weeks so not even full term yet but just wondering if others felt different just before labour?

I had diarrhea and a loss of back pain (because baby had moved). In retrospect I also lost my plug and had mild water leaking but I didn't realize what those were until I was in full on labour the next day!

This said I had some crazy symptoms in those final two months - lots of Braxton Hicks and lots of changes. I'm sure your body is just preparing you.

Call your midwife team if you're worried. And don't panic if it is labour - 35 weeks is early but you're so close the ward will be very well prepared for it.

@nunvangus in all honestly with both my labours I had absolutely no idea it was going to start until my actual contractions started! Hopefully your little one stays tucked up for at least another couple of weeks 🤞🏻

Massive. I felt massive.

No signs until the real deal. BH from about a month out but they were consistent in frequency and strength until the real things started.

Good luck Smile

Fat like two oversized whales merged together. Swollen ankles.

I was full of energy the day my waters broke - walked into town, got a haircut, felt great! I wasn't due for three weeks (and had a c section planned in nine days).

Mild cramps nothing else

coronafiona · 14/09/2020 22:17

I felt enormous! I was leaking bright red water for ages didn't realise what it was. It was all fine though. Hope it goes well for you

Loads of energy and then just a feeling of "weird" before going to bed.

Chameleon2003 · 14/09/2020 23:11

Fed up, irritable and huge.

I felt at peace. I had finally finished the baby room, DH (at the time) had come back from a trip and the house was spotless. No physical pains and then water broke.

They say once you get your stuff in order there is some hormonal thing that can relax you so you go into labour. Don't know how true that is.

I was 37 weeks exactly and two days before I suddenly felt an urge at work to “get it all done” just incase I went into an early labour . I wasn’t due to start my maternity leave for 2 more weeks but felt panicked. I even typed up my handover for my replacement. The next day I had the day off and was busy . I can’t remember if I had more energy but I was doing a lot so I must have . That evening I felt super uncomfortable and woke up at 1am to my waters breaking .

Helenknowsbest · 15/09/2020 11:04

I had terrible sleep the days before labour. Back pain and braxton hicks.

Mylittlepony374 · 15/09/2020 11:07

Looking back I was exhausted the day before I went into labour with my second. Just so so tired, my husband thought I was getting sick, I couldn't eat for tiredness. Baby came the next day, at 34 weeks.

excitednerves · 15/09/2020 11:08

I was so tired in the weeks leading up to birth. My waters broke and I still didn’t think I was in labour (thought I’d wet myself) even when craps started, I still didn’t believe it was labour until I was properly in the throes of contractions. So maybe, denial is the best way to describe it?

excitednerves · 15/09/2020 11:09

*cramps

SqidgeBum · 15/09/2020 11:12

Honestly, from 32 weeks I just felt off anyway. Between lack of sleep, aches and pains, leakage, painful braxton hicks, losing my mucus plug twice, and digestive issues, I felt like I could have been preparing for labour at any point in those 8 weeks. I am 33 weeks on DD2 now and I feel the same. When labour finally came with DD1, I had been out in the pub watching ireland beat NZ in the rugby, and had been hoping up and down and then walked home. I had no idea my waters were about to go. I think for many people, it just happens and signs sometimes are just side effects of being pregnant.

MyCassiopiea · 15/09/2020 11:16

I was in a horrendously bad mood! Otherwise no signs.
