Stretch mark oil/cream? What's best?

Hi everyone. We have recently had our 12w scan this week (almost 14 weeks now with recalculated due date) and I was wondering what stretch mark/tummy rub creams or oils everyone would recommend?
I have been looking at the Burts Bees mama bee belly butter and the Weleda tummy oil. Both brands I like. I don't want anything too sticky or heavily scented!

Thanks, looking forward to your responses.

The neals yard mother balm is great and unscented

kate909 · 13/09/2020 17:44

I love the Burt's bees mama bee one!

Save your money and buy almond oil, google and you’ll see fab reviews! It’s about £4 a bottle :).

Oneandabean · 13/09/2020 18:14

I love burts bees but the reviews aren’t great. I’ve got Superdrug vitamin E cream. Comes in a big tub, isn’t greasy and vitamin e is meant to be great for stopping stretch marks. Really good value too.
I’ve got mama mio tummy butter for When I’m bigger, it’s quite expensive but got 25% off through bounty app, it smells gorgeous and feels amazing but they also do an unscented one, reviews on it are fab.

@Catherine1210 I’ve read several places that pregnant ladies shouldn’t use almond oil, it can cause premature labour.

Nimsay1 · 13/09/2020 18:56

Eat healthy fats. Drinks lots of water. Don't bother with creams, they're a complete waste of money.

Catherine1210 · 13/09/2020 19:24

@Oneandabean oh dear I didn’t realise that thanks for the info!

It’s strange as others have recommended Burt bees mama bee and the Mama Mio one you recommended, both list sweet almond oil as an ingredients! My midwife didn’t say anything to me when I mentioned using it either.

Best to go with whatever info you have researched though rightly. So OP please do your research before using it xx

To my knowledge , creams make no difference.

wowfudge · 13/09/2020 19:29

When I had a scar having a suspect skin lesion removed the plastic surgeon told me it was the action of massaging the skin that helped minimise the scarring, not what you used. He said Nivea in the blue tin was as good as anything and a lot cheaper than Biooil, etc.

I used secret saviours with my first pregnancy, its a bump band with a day gel and a night cream and i didnt get any stretch marks.
It may have been coincidence and is a pricey option but I thought it was worth it and will use it again Smile

Seen so many of these posts recently, creams can stop your bump itching but if your going to get stretch marks you'll still get them irregardless of what cream you use, or if your not destined to get them you simply won't, their generic and based on how your skin responds to being stretched x
