Hi all. Any recommendations for post section lochia pass? I remember having massive ones last time which were awful.

I think people on here mentioned Tena lady?

I used Boots ones and found them to be fine.

chocolate26 · 12/09/2020 13:56

I liked the Sainsburys and Morrison's brand. I found them comfortable 😊

Spam88 · 12/09/2020 14:02

If you don't like the massive ones, a few places do slimline ones. I had them from Tesco, think I've seen people mention boots as well.

gmailconfusion2 · 12/09/2020 14:15

I had boots one which were OK, but found they rubbed where I was cut for the forceps, ended up borrowing a friend's heavy duty reusables as they went past the sutures and no risk of leaks. Thyy were really comfy

Superscientist · 12/09/2020 14:21

I used sainsburys for the first 12h then switched to cloth sanitary pads the cloth were so much nicer!

MeadowHay · 12/09/2020 14:22

I had ginormous ones for the first...week? Fortnight? or so, think they were lillets. They were massive but so comfy - I had a ventouse birth with an episiotomy - and I didn't have any leaks at all either.

Once the bleeding calmed down a bit I switched to whatever, Boots and I think Asda too? but I always wanted ones with wings as otherwise would have leaked down the sides I'm sure.

Gerdticker · 12/09/2020 14:26

I preferred using the giant disposable pants immediately after birth and for the first few days, then switched to soft pads. I think the boots own ones were fine.

Just make sure that whatever you use has no fragrance, and are massive!

Ribeebie · 12/09/2020 14:35

I used boots. They were on 3 for 2 and I had just the right amount. They were soft and comfortable

Oneandabean · 12/09/2020 14:55

I used Superdrug ones, they’re comfortable and really cheap, nearly always on buy one get 2nd half price too

Stargazer87 · 12/09/2020 15:00

Following with interest! I've had lots of people recommend Boots to me but then other people have said avoid?

sarahc336 · 12/09/2020 16:03

Surely all maternity pads are the massive ones, I'll be using them again for at least the first week as apart from anything they're a bit softer to sit on after stitches 😂😂

ovener · 12/09/2020 18:03

I liked the lil-lets maternity pads. Not too thick and bulky but good coverage of your knickers, particularly at the back where it leaks when you lie down! I switched to natracare sanitary towels once the flow lessened. I hate plasticky feeling pads against my skin.

I found the classic thick maternity pads too chunky on a sore episiotomy.

Stargazer87 · 12/09/2020 18:09

How long do you need to use the super thick ones for?

Lil-Lets maternity pads, not thick like most supermarket brands, are individually wrapped and have 2 sets of wings.

MeadowHay · 12/09/2020 21:23

@stargazer87 it's tricky as I imagine everyone differs? I'm sure I wore them for more than a week, not sure if it was quite two weeks or not. And then still wore thinner maternity pads for another week or two I think, I seem to remember bleeding for quite a long time. Not sure if that's typical or not/whether my memory isn't super sharp on it either, was only 2018 but those things early weeks were mostly lost to me in a blur of pain and exhaustion

inforapennyinforapug · 12/09/2020 21:33

Another vote for the lilets maternity pads. They were super comfy, not enormously thick and bulky and I never had a leak with them. I then switched to Asda’s own brand thinner ones once I was bleeding less and less sore

babbafett · 12/09/2020 21:42

Another one recommending the Lilets maternity pads. The set of two wings were very handy. I didn't like the thin boots ones. I don't think they had wings. I only used them towards the very end.

Abzs · 12/09/2020 21:51

In Scotland now you get a pack in the baby box. I used them in the hospital, they were okay. The hospital will probably give you a couple and I've found theirs have softer edges than shop/box ones.
Once I was home I swapped to washable ones which I found much more comfy. I used Bloom and Nora in the Nora variety.

KitKatastrophe · 12/09/2020 21:53

Tena Lady pants for the first few days, they cover everything so you dont have to worry and are super absorbent and actually pretty comfy.

Mine levelled off quite quickly so I then went to cloth sanitary towels as they're less itchy than disposable pads.

TheIckabog · 12/09/2020 21:55

I wore Always pants which are actually designed for bladder leaks. They were really slimline and came up high over the post-baby belly and section scar. They were super comfy and you couldn’t see them under clothes. Much better than pads in your knickers or Tena lady pants.

sarahc336 · 13/09/2020 07:48

@Stargazer87 I'd say you'll defo need the really thick ones for the first week, the flow can be really heavy, much worse than a period. I think once it slows down you can switch to just a normal pad you'd wear for a period but defo buy them thickaterniry ones and buy enough to last you at least 7 days xx

Thanks all. Fab advice. X
